With all the havoc on the east coast of the USA due to some very major hurricanes and storms why does our government send $145 million of OUR tax dollars to Lebanon?
If I had a say in this I'd make sure that EVERY part of our affected eastern states would get ALL the funds needed to address the needs of the people and wildlife that are affected by those storms before sending money to a foreign country ..... so far I have not heard of Lebanon sending aid to us when we need it.

Often times plans like this are made far in in advance and are difficult to stop. It's really hard to say. A lot of people saw the huricane coming , but underplayed the affect. They expected flooding, but probably didn't realize the inpact it'd have. I don't think anyone did. Many people lost their lives because they thought they would be safe and could ride it out. Down here in Florida people are more aware of how bad things can get.

@TheHorse The same can be said for anone who's been through it before. All we can do is prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Each person needs to decide what that risk is and if they can safely leave, they will. The point is to remain calm, stay aware but not panic. Stay alert, but remain calm.
For example, George and I have developed a method of shopping that ensures we're ahead on stables we'll need for the upcoming storm. We put solar pannals on our home to minimize power loss.We likely will looose power but we'll have power during the day to run fans, and the fridge. I just rder more groceries so we'd have something for the storm. I have more bottled water then I know what to do with and in the event of damage, I'll use that to flush George's tube instead of tap. I'm always thinking about how we'd pack in the event we do decide we need to leave. how much tube food we'd need.
It's wise to think smart. I don't think that's being over confident. People are taking this storm seriously, just like we do any other.

I just don't get why the US is constantly helping other countries when we have so many homeless that need help, that is one thing that has been around since before 1970 yet no president has ever done anything about. Well, maybe Woodrow Wilson tried but that's about it

I'll have to check out your post.
The only light I can shed on this is that the current US admin would rather help foreign countries then their own. I have to wonder if this is Bidens idea or if he's being manipulated by Harris and others.

@rebelann I would have to say a little of both if you ask me cause I watched
when he was sitting in the chair writing off all trumps orders he had in place
& he said what am I doing & Harris said "just sign it, don't worry about it"

I have the opinion that our congress should have millions set aside for aid to our regions that get hit with wildfires and hurricanes before giving it away to foreign countries, all of it is OUR tax dollars.

Unfortunately we have to help other countries aside from our own depending on the situation. Have a good week.

@rebelann The US feels like it has to be the big power who helps everyone else. Other countries probably don't have the $ to help someone else.

I hope everyone in there will get all the help that they needed. That's the only thing I hope they secure first. I don't know their reasoning, but I hope they make you also their priorities. Have a great day.

Te current administration has done a great job of getting resources to the South. It's one of those rare times when you see people thanking each other "across the aisle." Republican Governors are thanking our Democratic president for being on top of things.

I've never voted for democrats or republicans @TheHorse Neither does much for the real needs of our country as a whole, it's not just about humans, wildlife and their habitats are sadly overlooked and then we complain that we so many species that are either endangered or have gone extinct, those wild habitats are necessary if we want to be able to breath in the future

@rebelann LOL! I assume you're being ironic. But you do remember when Trump came to Paradise and called it "Pleasant," or something like that? It as pathetic. And he was still "President" then. My friend lost everything in that fire, including his Martin D-28 guitar. I helped him buy a new one. Many residents of Paradise were Conservative and actually voted for Trump in 2016. But not so much in 2020.

Don't hold your breath though, with all the attempts to get even with the human race I doubt anything will be easy as time goes by. Heck, even here the record heat we had this past June through September almost killed a few of my trees, my water bills were well over $100 just to keep them alive

I am in agreement with you since we the people in our land need funds to rebuild the cities damaged by the hurricane.
