I had to refuse a well cooked dish

Someone offered a very good advice last week. As we grow older our digestive system gets weaker, and it's better to avoid certain food items which are hard to digest.
My family has come down to south Kolkata for two days. In this area beef is a normal part of a holiday lunch . It was served lovingly and respectfully but I had to refuse it as politely as possible. I didn't want to displease the hosts. I explained that my health issues don't allow me to intake any red meat.
They are good people and they understood.
Do you agree that our health should be the priority and we should stop eating harmful food items ?

Good to know that you're able to discipline yourself. I have a friend who found it awfully hard to refuse meat dishes when she's in another household until she suffered a terrible gout attack after eating so much red meat and innards. I think you've been wise in your decision. It's best to think about our health first so we don't suffer the consequences or inconvenience our loved ones.

I have never hesitated in making my choice and expect those around to understand.

That's a shame that you can no longer eat red meat but good that your hosts understood your reasons.

I agree with you. You explained your reasons, that was the best you could do.

I agree. I've recently had to change my eating habits. It's hard but it's better for me.
