I broke down and just did it.

I couldn't stand it anymore. It just got cold in here...too cold. I am wearing warm sweats and a shirt and a hoodie, and I am still cold. I turned the furnace on, at least for a little while.
It seems so stupid to do it, because in a few days it will be like 75 degrees again. But last night it was 32 degrees, and it's already 31, supposed to get down to 28. It was cool in here all day, but tonight it's just COLD.
I really did not intend to cave. But I can't sleep. I am just going to warm it up in here, and then probably turn it off again. I usually don't have to turn it on so early in October. But they are even talking a few snowflakes tonight and tomorrow morning, so I am using that as my excuse.
I am hoping that @LindaOHio and @wolfgirl569 are not terribly jealous if I get some snow before they do!

We had hail today. Brrrr. I'm glad it's warming up again in a few days. Have a good day.

We actually had some hail in late August one evening. Big cloud came in, it hailed for about 5 minutes, and it was over. Very weird. I hope you have a good day, too.

@MarieCoyle - My husband always feared the cold and often had cold hands and feet even when he was young, the same as my Daddy. My brother has warm hands even with a temperature below 30 F.

With all the weight he has lost, he no doubt has a hard time keeping warm. October is generally the month of yo-yo weather here. I know we have some great Indian Summer days coming up that I plan to enjoy.

My younger son is almost always hot. His hands are always warm, and he can stay barefoot while everyone else is freezing...some people are like that, but I haven't ever been one of them.

I can already tell the difference, I am going to turn it off pretty soon. I just needed to get the chill out of here. If you are hurting, you should turn yours on for a bit, too.

I did turn it on.
They said we will see some snowflakes but nothing will stick. Last year, we had several inches of snow fall on Halloween night, the little trick or treaters' were out sloshing around in it to get their candy.

I guess I could have put on my warmer coat and some leggings under my sweats, but that seemed a bit silly when I could put on the furnace! I am glad I have lots of nice warm blankets, too.

Is this what they call the 'cold snap'? I read about it in the news. I hope you stay warm most of the time.

I guess it is a cold snap, I never thought about it. Our weather is often strange. One day it's too hot, the next it's cold. There is a saying in the Midwest, ''If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes!' which of course means it often changes drastically.

@MarieCoyle Yes, the news said there's warning of 'freezing temps' in the Midwest and that pipes should be checked etc etc. Weather can be this crazy. Take care.

I’m good it’s been way below zero before sine I moved here, and no frozen pipes. Our wears definitely stranger now than ever before, it seems.

It isn't as cold here, but I am using the space heater in the evening..and may even take it into the bedroom tonight as I fear my nose might be cold.

32F? That is cold! Brrrr
Over here it is recommended to keep your house at a minimum of 18C (32F) as the cold can seriously affect your health. It’s been chilly over here recently but it’s due to be a bit warmer for the next week. No snow yet, and none in the forecast. We had very little of it last year, so I’m hoping it’s the same this year.

@MarieCoyle The US gets much harsher weather conditions than we do in the UK. I’m not sure we’ve even had an ice storm, unless it’s called something else here?

32 degrees would be really cold to try to function very long inside.
Snow doesn’t bother me but I detest ice storms!

It’s not a sign of weakness! I have my furnace on! (Of course, I have it set at 62-64…)
I was watching the Mount Washington, NH rail cam earlier today. They have snow. That’s how I like my snow: somewhere ELSE.

In the winters, I always have on a heavy cardigan in the house or a sweater or hoodie. Yep. Layer up, it helps tremendously!

I can relate to needing the furnace for a few days and then having warmer weather to enjoy a few days later.
It is no different than turning on the a/c for a few hot days and then shutting it off and opening the windows when it turns nice out.
We haven't turned our furnace on just yet, but it is ready to go.
I have heard of snow in the forecast when they look at the big picture, but I think it is too early for that already.

Your reply reminds me of Robin Williams rant as Adrian Cronauer, in Good Morning Vietnam, discussing how hot it is there at that time. Not repeat-able here, but it still has the same slant to it.

@MarieCoyle It's not a contest with me either. I am king of this house. I set the rules. I rule the roost. I lay down the demands. I set the guidelines and expect complete obedience. I will not be denied, questioned, or otherwise....
Wait a minute. I think she's coming... "Yes, dear?"

@MarieCoyle I once thought of selling a hat that would have a large lump protruding from the top as though it bursted through. The front would have said, "I told my wife I was king, and she crowned me." If I ever could have done it, I bet they would have sold. lol

I turned on my heater once earlier in the month, then went back to a/c. Now I have it on and set at 70. It does not seem to be kicking on much and once the sun is up it will be pleasant as I have lots of south facing windows that heat up the kitchen.. It is 29 outside right now. It is not good for people in our age group to be cold. We have a heated mattress pad and heated throws we can use.

I haven’t had the central air on for quite a number of days now. I was enjoying the feeling of not running either one and saving a bit of money. But I think that time has passed.
I get colder now than I used to. Getting older and plus I lost a lot of weight so I don’t have the insulation I had

As I have started to understand the difference between Fahrenheit and Degree Celsius, now I know what those figures there mean. Yes, it's cold. We have NEVER EVER seen that kind of cold. The least we experienced was 42 Degree Fahrenheit, which is about 6 Degree Celsius. Ok. That's it. Nothing lesser after that.
I have a few friends in Canada. And they say it's way way colder there. I just heard. I'm not sure. But looking at the geographical locations, that might be true too.
What's the lowest that you saw?

No, not a globetrotter as you say.
When I was younger, my father moved a lot for work. When I grew up and married, my husband moved some for his work, too, and so did I. If your family moves somewhere, you go--it's just what you do.

Last night I was considering hunting up my fingerless gloves! But since my fingers were really cold, I don’t think that would have helped. Once I finally made it to bed and my electric blanket, I was much warmer!
I think I saw about 10 snowflakes, so no worries!

It sounds like we're in the same weather belt, (if there even is such a thing) I'm in Michigan and it's been chilly here for the past week or so with several first warnings. I don't know if we got the frost though. ( That reminds me I should bring in my Christmas cactus. I was trying to shock it into blooming later. It's covered by a roof).
We turned our heart in a few days ago. Tomorrow it's supposed to be back into the sixties and next week maybe seventies but could at night.

I hate to run it all the time so soon so I am glad we will be having some more warm days. 75 doesn’t feel too cold when I’m outside moving around, but inside at the end of the day, it definitely does.
