winter isn't that far away, are you ready for it?

Have you been gearing up for winter ? like getting everything that needs to be done taking care of ? Like your winter clothes, getting your vehicle serviced your furnace serviced, your fire place taken care of your plants covered B-4 it gets too cold on them. Do you have plenty of fire wood or pellets to last ? Have you got all your winter clothes clean & ready ? do you have plenty of food stocked up & on hand. If not then I would make sure to work on it so you have it all done where when it gets in your area you will be ready & not be caught without things. There are a lot of people that got caught in the 2 hurricanes that are in dire straits losing their place of living & everything they owned This is the time to be thinking about all those who have lost a loved 1 in the hurricanes & what they are going through this time of year of all times. This is the time to have them in your prayers even if you don't know them, just know god does & has them with him, & knows who you are that pray. I would also suggest you thank God for all the blessings he has given you over the yrs in life even if you don't believe in him, he loves us all. I have to say it's been a rough 2 years of all I've been through with getting sick last year & recovering from it this year & working on the cabin, to 3 outta 6 of our dogs passing away. I can't say what next year is going to be like but I pray for it to be better than the last 2 where I can work on what's left to do in the cabin & work on the other stuff to get done. Do you have anything that you want or need to do when next year gets here ? what is it ? is there something you have never done ? I'm looking forward to getting back in my cabin to start my new life that God has blessed me with, even though it's just going to be me in it it will be so quite & cozy as well as peaceful.

I hear ya, I don't like winter either, but with a reliable heater & all the bills paid up where we don't have to worry about getting out & plenty of food to eat, I think we're pretty ready as ready can get.

Ready for it, and ready for it are two different things. I know it's coming and so I have what I need to deal with it. But mentally ready for it? Never.

Oh yeah there's a lot to think about to get done cause it requires a lot of thinking a head of time to get it all done in time. We use to have a fire place to heat the house up & we'd start cutting wood in April just so we had enough to last 3-6 mons till it warmed up, & sometimes we worried if we cut enough when we got low.

@2ndchances24 I also have a friend from Florida. He encouraged me to live there and work. But then I lost contact with him. He said that the place has good weather to live in.

I use to live in Fla & it wasn't too bad compared to what Indiana winter are like & every year it seems a little colder each year or it's a mild winter, it all relies on what God does.

@Shavkat It does till hurricane season arrives "June till Nov" After that then winter hits & it's not too bad but does get a little nippy if your not use to it, but some damn good fishing.

We have a furnace to heat that runs on natural gas, so we are not going to run out of anything. I have bought some cans of beans, soups, pasta and rice, just in case it snows and we cannot go out shopping.

@LadyDuck yeah & we have not just 1 heating bill but 2 & that hurts cause it goes from cheap in the warm mons to VERY expensive in the winter (300-600 $)

With the almost summer like temperatures these past few days it's hard to think about the cold winter that is looming ahead. Right now I'm sitting here in summer clothes and the air conditioning is on. Hard to believe when it's the middle of October. Your post about being prepared is good timing because winter will hit us soon and we'll be dealing with all sorts of bad weather, snow, ice, sleet etc. Hope you'll be chatting with us in your cabin that is cozy and peaceful
