I wear glasses and these ones, currently only ones, i got 2 years ago. Many of them that i had before, since 3rd year of high school, every 2 years, i was replacing old ones with new ones, there were promotions like this so, yes, i got stuck on the last ones like that and those if i left in a bus or they fell. Yeah, i was disappointed about it back then.
For these ones, I went to check my eyesight in a shop, which is specialized for glasses but it also offered service for eye sight check-up and they had some discounts.
I wasn't too pleased cause i felt i got too big dioptres, i paid more cause it was bigger but i didn't have any papers about diptres from previous years. One family member threw it away, thinking i won't be needing it so, yes and i suddenly got an eyesight that i could even see a spider climbing on a wall.
I was thinking to go through my social security to eye sight specialist but it was never the right time.
Finally, i decided to do it today and i know there is a waiting list but i called one number, they said May next year and i literally laughed. I called one place too, they said May again and i took it. I mean, we really lack of these specialists or our health system is really awful, which it is.
If i knew this, maybe i could do it sooner but, okay, i have the date. May 27, 8 a.m.
Ah
Latest update: I moved up. Now it's February 18 in the late afternoon

hahahh i know how it is. that's why i switched to "private sector". you know how they say - time is money
i'll pay you as much as you want, but i want to get things done as soon as possible. i had a really good doctor in one glasses shop in Bosnia, i don't know what and how i'll do these eyesight checks in future...

my current glasses are from that sector and i remember too young guy telling me do i see this and i said it is too much and since then, i'm unhappy a bit. i was telling my last diopter must be under 2 but, no, he made it to 2, ah. o, sorry. also, you wear glasses or lenses?

@grenery8 well, you know it changes over time. could be that something else was "bothering" your vision during that examination. maybe you got astigmatism
saying that because the same thing happened to me. it's good to go to ophthalmologists that has newer equipment. i'm wearing glasses

@aureategloom i know but it shouldn't that much or big diopter no, don't add me additional diseases, please o,it did? But we are still young,in our hearts at least and me particulary
I also find that glasses are more handy. I think i will struggle with lenses and my eyes are sensitive to touch

The wonders of free healthcare, I can relate.
What can we do about it? We just hope we never need it. At least there are shops that offer free or cheap check-ups, even if their ultimate goal is to sell whatever they can, as much as they can.

indeed. just when i thought, they are waiting only for me, a shock again. really, i thought 3months is tops for waiting yes, been to those shops and felt like not that qualified people working. might be the same in a free healthcare but, i want to check it but i expected it would be sooner. good news is i got february 18 at the different office, yes

@grenery8 Oh, February 18 is much better, well done.
The only time I went to the glasses shop, it felt like the check-ups I had back in school. It felt nice, I guess the fact I went there with my parents, despite being a grown-up, did help.

@somewitch you got me back to my first days of that era. i went with my mum and i can't believe how glasses were always pricey. one amount for frame, then lenses, then for anti computer rays something, so many things. and when you drop them or lose them, it's like a whole world gone february is so much better, thank you though, i wonder what state of mind will i have the next year

That’s a long time to wait, especially if you are having trouble with your eyes that is affecting your day to day life.
Health care here in the UK is bad too with ever increasing waiting lists for every kind of health issue. They blame lack of funding plus the covid pandemic for pushing up waiting lists.
I hope you get sorted soon

it really is. i am not an urgent case (it seems, never) but i wanted to check my eyes faster. clearly, it's not on me so my hands are tied and i can only wait for the next year yes, they like to blame; noone ask, us, patients, if we are fine. when i had awful doctors, they were chanting the same phrase, you can find a new doctor but, question is and was, where.
thank you. maybe this can be a chance to think about wearing lenses. i never wore them but, i'm clumsy so not sure if it's a good idea.
