It's not spring outside but spring is perhaps in me. Sakura (Jap. cherry blossom) mochi:)

And this rice candy wasn't cheap. 5 mochi rolls was 4dollars. But, after an interview and i don't go in that direction often, rather rarely, i stopped by Beijing Duck, Asian food store here and treated myself. They relocated to a bigger space but, you know, manners of an owner stayed the same so, some things will never change and i mean bad ones. Boxes near the entrance, store in dark (not the whole dark but enough you don't see prices well), owner barely saying hello, cheaper products missing but those that aren't are there. Prices tagging in question; some are there and some are missing. I also bought myself 200 grams of Korean kimchi (my main reason to come), dry seaweed salad (not for me, made a mistake with this one), pistachio pudding from Turkey and 1 Korean ramyeon with black bean flavour. So, going there and not coming back soon or ever, cause of the attitude, i bought what i wanted to buy. I would come back only and maybe if the store sets a big sale, which it never did so far. Yep. And, mochi is good. It has some cherry in it, a small percentage of aroma, all other is a bean paste but, it's not bad and it seems as a nice gift, if you decide to gift people. I hope you had a nice day today, mylotters.

I love going to international markets - even if sometimes things seem questionable . I love all that stuff. Did they have other flavor mochis too? I got some kim chi recently too . . . we love kim chi fried rice!

These kind of stores are attracting people, aren't they? My stomach kind of became programmed to this candy or maybe because i love rice On their site, there was an apricot flavour (which in that dark i didn't see but wanted to buy, except sakura flavour). Personally, i tried only greeen tea flavour, my favourite but last time the filling was strange and i tried red bean one too. Coconut one, i don't like, which they offered. cause, i don't like coconut in general You did? how awesome; it is spicy but a special type of spiciness, right? is it also expensive like here or you can choose cheaper one?

@grenery8 Hee hee. I have to write more (I'm sure by now you know I don't post much). I think you're right - it does attract more people . I was born in the US, but I am Japanese, so I grew up on the mochi. We didn't have the flavors and colors that they do now. What kind of filling was the green tea one that was strange . . . was it light in color? Coconut is normally not a Japanese ingredient - in the past anyway - I don't think I've had a coconut mochi. There are many kinds of these . . . we should go to these specialty shops and try them all ! Kim chi - yes, spicy and garlicy! I guess it's not too terribly expensive here . . . many Koreans live in our area - there are 2 local Korean markets. I just wish we could get them in smaller amounts .

@much2say yes, they are outdoing themselves with some flavours, not realising not all people would like that. you're japanese, cool; you don't have a photo, like me, so i wouldn't know if you didn't tell me it was white; i thought they put coconut perhaps but on box says it's green tea too but it wasn't like the first time i tried it. before, it wasalso green filling. we should try them for free. now, we are taking the risk o, that's good there's some competitiveness in the air, with the prices too in smaller amounts, well, yes, it would be better. do they offer larger amount only?

Speaking of Kimchi, I am planning to make some soon. I have been craving for it in days now. I prefer to home-made because I can have more than being sold in the market.

@grenery8 That's nice of you to remember. I used to sell them, but no time to do it regularly. Thanks for the YouTube, it taught me how to make it at home.

Some outlets are quite unwelcoming. And the owners don't seem to be familiar with terms like "Customer Friendly" or "End User friendliness". It was some hectic day due to preparations for festivals. The Food Fare sounds quite delicious!! Have a nice Thursday ahead !!

it is a sticky rice and since i like rice, my body is loving it. there are various fillings. i wanted to take apricot filling/flavour but in that store's dark, i didn't see it. i mean, i like saving electricity too but, this, strange folk. i suggest you to try it, if you see it. i love green tea filling too and i usually like something involved with fruits cause, you can never go wrong with fruit flavours

@aureategloom you are right. though i can see some of these products on the apps, i think this is it for this year. for that kind of money, i can get so much more for our local brands this ramyeon that i bought, i took it expecting it to be spicy cause, most of them are spicy but this was sweet. i was disappointed a bit but,as a person who doesn't like spicy food too much, this is appropriate amoutn of spiciness. trust me

too much? you mean, it is overestimated? well, could be well, i've been experimenting with pickled bamboo in the past, frozen chinese vegetables, chinese flavoured gravy but when i've found out about korean cuisine especially, something opened in me. i've visited a korean restaurant several times (to 3 times) and ordered twice. my body doesn't like too spicy food but it is used to spiciness of south korea, it seems, not all of the dishes, of course

Bad services if I may say. I don't usually come back to stores like that. Thankfully we have lots of small and big groceries nearby our house, in our area we have 3 bakeries, so I don't mind if I don't have to buy bread on bakeries with bad staff attitude. We also have sari-sari store almost every blocks in the street have sari-sari stores and they closed very late at night like 11 PM and opens at 5AM.

I've never had mochi but I've been to Asian food stores. Yeah, they tend to come with a peculiar vibe, as if they don't want you there or got something to hide. At best, they might improvise a smile when you spend more than €30. I like ordering wakame salad at restaurants but I'm not sure I can find the same seasoning in stores. I think restaurants might use salad in cans or jars but I've only seen them online and they're expensive. The only Korean packed treat I've ever bought was peach and grape oreos and they tasted like soap.

if they were natives of asian culture, i would get it but our people, but not caring, o well, i'll remember that i gave 17 dollars. got an apricot pudding too. i mean, 17 or more, 30, it's not a charity, as they think you are right, seasoning couldn't be found everywhere. i like seaweed leavess but salad and i seasoned it like i do it with regualr salad, i barely ate half of it so almsot 4 dollars was thrown in the air o, sorry for that experience; soaps, ah i like korean food but their sweets look not that sweet for me. some strange biscuits and mochi is japanese, which they adopted it so they offer that too.
