Mother in law's tongue (Sansevieria) is known to keep away reptiles. It is also a provider of oxygen. We have hundred of these plants in our garden and therefore we can safely roam around as we have no fear of reptiles. This is the time for these plants to bloom and they give out a nice smell too.

Maybe that's why it's called a snake plant. I've got lots of them in the provincial house but only one pot here in the city apartment. I should remember to separate and repot them already and bring them inside the house. Apparently, they're good at cleaning indoor air.

@allknowing Oh! Here in America, mother-in-law jokes are often told. They are good natured, and very popular.

@allknowing I´m not planting anything in my garden anymore. The garden is Luna´s. I have a few plants in containers at the garage. But I have such a small space there that I only plant veggies.

@marguicha Permit me to say this. Our dogs roamed around our big garden but only used garden paths

@allknowing - Four days ago I found a very small snake inside the laundry room. They are so tiny that they enter through the upper ventilation windows in the laundry/furnace room.

They like a coll climate. No reason why they should not bloom where you live.

@allknowing I don't know. Maybe just that bit too cold, or not enough light, or something...
