Foods that heal

Blessed are those who only depend on food for mainting their health at all times. It is not easy to determine what to eat and how much to eat. I depend a lot on supplements and even take medicines to keep my BP in check. This became necessary only after I met with that accident a few years ago. Till then I never knew what supplements were. Now it is difficult for me to get back to only food that heals. Those who are only relying on food should stick to it and not get tempted to go for supplements. Good Luck

@allknowing Hibiscus tea for BP. Plenty of fresh vegetables, minimum of red meat. Lots of garlic. I’ve never been on medication. I’m 66. I also managed to get my wife’s BP stabilised by diet.

Not many can do what you have done. Getting the right type of food throughout one's life is indeed a feat.

@xFiacre As long as the stomach and tongue works in tandem all is fine but that is not how it is Most of the time the tendency is to satisfy the tongue.

@allknowing So many people here eat very unhealthily - convenience food is so available and cheap and it is so full of sugar, salt and fat. Eating healthily takes quite a bit of effort but it’s worth it.

@Shavkat, I also love eating vegetables but in the past I seldom eat vegetables. I only learned when I was in New Zealand.

As we get older our body needs more than we can get in food, or our body does not absorb it. It is still important to eat healthily, but supplements are good in addition.

Even with age if one can manage with just food that would be good but yes most need supplements.

Food supplements could also be good like the energy vitamins. Sorry to hear about your blood pressure that's not anymore normal.

I agree on that thought. However post pandemic , I am not sure how many rely only on food for their needs. I started many multivitamins on a daily basis. Read once we cross age 35 , the absorption rate from food decreases and we all may depend on multivitamins. Calcium supplements are must for Women gender especially if the milk consumption is less. Sorry to hear about the accident and the challenges you have. Most of us take health to be granted which is a dangerous thing to do. Perhaps yoga and breathing could help your bp alongwith medicines. Take care!

Thanks. Yes. Age decreases food absorption calling for supplements.
