Day 1: "Gratitude Countdown — What Are You Thankful for Today?"

United States
November 14, 2024 3:51pm CST
As we approach Thanksgiving in the U.S., let’s take the next two weeks to focus on gratitude together. No matter where we're from or what holidays we celebrate, we all have something to be thankful for. This series is about finding joy in the little things, connecting through shared positivity, and lifting each other up with daily gratitude. So let’s start today — what are you thankful for? I'll start... Today, I’m thankful for friends, even fair-weather and frenemy friends. Sometimes, it’s the small interactions that can make all the difference. As difficult or complicated as these friendships may be, they still add value to our lives and help shape who we are! P.S. As you can tell by the words on the box, the image is AI generated. I did not ask for words.

@Deepizzaguy We don't get to choose our blood relatives, but we do get to choose which of our friends become our family. How cool it is that so willingly (unofficially) adopt others like that.

Always thankful for friends, especially the firm and faithful. I was counting how many fingers there were, from what I've read AI has a problem with them

@Chellezhere The thing about true friends is they aren't a burden or demanding, but there

@Ronrybs Exactly. I have one I've known since 1972, another since 1980, and a third since 1983. We like in different states, and don't talk as much as we used to, but when 1972 recently lost her job, I was the one she called. When 1980's mom decided to stop all cancer treatments except palliative, I was the one she called. And when 1983's niece was murdered in a triple homicide last winter, he called me for comfort, too. I also reached out to them when I was having health issues.

It's good to be surrounded by friends. I hope to see a few of my friends before the year ends. I am thankful that my daughter is finally recovering from pneumonia and everyone in my family has recovered from the flu. I've been praying a lot and asking for the intercession of Mary and of some saints. I'm so glad the worst is over.

Amen to that. It is always good to be surrounded by friends. I also hope you get to see the friends you speak of before the year is out. I am so glad your family's health has been restored. Praise God for that!

True friends are rare. If we have them, we should earnestly thank God for them. I have two that I know I can always count on. They are like my sisters. I am, daily, thankful for them.

I agree. I keep my circle of friends small, too.
