Do you mind this way of saving money?

My dad’s dryer broke down so he went to replace it. A Black Friday sale was being held, but one of them had a small dent in the back so my dad took that one and got $150 more off the price. You not only can’t tell where the tiny dent is, but no one can see the back of the dryer because it’s backed up against the wall. In addition, the last couch I bought years ago was deeply discounted because it was the floor sample. Nothing was wrong with it; it wasn’t worn at all. But I got over $100 off because it had been on the showroom floor. Do you guys save money that way? Does anyone mind a small dent in the back of a dryer? I think it’s a great way to get nice things cheaper (I love my couch). Yet a guy I know said he’d never buy a showroom floor couch.

I've never done it but I would if I had the opportunity.

They call those "scratch and dent sales" and I don't mind them at all.

Would you buy the floor model of the couch?

Oh yeah! As long as the item is working as it should and the cosmetic imperfection is very minimal, I cannot see why not! In my mind, it will eventually scratch and have wear and tear eventually.

i absolutely support that way of saving money. i save that way on clothes - i remember buying converse for 30BAM (16.3USD) instead of 120BAM (64,54 USD) just because their soles weren't "as white"

We purchased a freezer for the garage years ago. $100 off for a small dent on the side. It still works… who cares, it’s in the garage! I absolutely would do it again.

When ever I can get a good deal I jump on it, no matter what it has wrong with it as long as it works runs & does what I need it to do.

I haven't bought any scratch and dent stuff, but I wouldn't be against it, especially if you can't see the dent.

That’s what I thought. Yet some guy I know said he’d never buy a floor model couch. I thought that made no sense.

@AmbiePam But maybe that’s exactly what he does, knowing that no-one will be up-ending his couch to check!

I would buy that dryer with a small dent especially if it was at the back. That's a huge savings . I got a really good black Friday deal on my new stove

I think that guy has more money than sense. I love a good bargain. Who doesn't want to save money? I've bought floor models and saved money, plus getting last year's models of appliances can be a savings.

If the deal is good enough, why not? That way, both the seller and the customer are winners.

I don't agree to that. Here in my city they exchange old electronics for new one and deduct some money from the cost price.

I tend to stay away from scratch and dent and floor sample items. I expect the items I buy to last decades; and I want a new one of whatever it is. Have a good day.

I love saving money! As long as the defect doesn't affect the item in functionality or isn't too much of an eyesore, I'm fine with it. My Ninja Foodi was originally $180 but I got it for about $85 because it had a scuff on the lid that you can barely see. It works great and visually is still appealing.
