Christmas in the Park

Last night we took a little drive through Holmes Water Park to see the annual display of Christmas lights. This event is held every year and is quite popular. People come from other areas in Mississippi and also Louisiana to see the lights. Holmes Water Park is located in Tylertown, Ms. This is a drive through event where they charge $5 per car, $10 per large van, and $20 per bus to drive through. We arrived at 5:45 pm when it was getting dark because I thought that the opening time was 5 pm, and it wasn't totally dark at 5, so we waited a bit. We were inside the town and by the time we got there it was almost opening time. It is located just outside of the town. The photo above is the entrance. There are thousands of lights throughout the drive. We enjoyed the visit, but could have done without the idiot behind us who was obviously trying to break the record for wanting to be the fastest person to drive through the lights. I was disappointed that I didn't get all of the photos that I wanted because of the jerk. Photo Credit: My own

Well dang! I don;t know if I would pay cash dollars to look at Christmas tree lights. Maybe I am a Grinch.

@TheHorse I used to think that way. There is a lot of artistry put into these light shows.

Hey, Mr. Grinch! haha. Well, profits on this go back into the park. This park has a big activity center and also hosts festivals and events in the center throughout the year. You also have to figure the electricity bill. With that being said, I think $5 a car is reasonable. Now if it was $20, I would pass--especially now since I've been once.

We have those idiots here as well. I was in the bus one day and this guy was driving at break neck speed. When I was getting down I told him if he wants to die he can jump in a well but we want to live (lol)

We have a park that has a drive through display of lights here also, just outside of town in a conservation area. I have often wondered how it could be enjoyed without feeling pressured to keep with the flow of the rest of the cars.

I guess that could be avoided by going later in the evening. We waited at the gate because the lady told us that she was going to turn all the lights on and it would take about 10 minutes. So we sat there and waited for her to come back. She didn't. But cars behind us at entrance went around us. I kept prompting my husband to pull forward, but he didn't until he saw cars moving. They had the cashiers stand after the entrance. So weird, but I guess to avoid traffic piling up on the highway.

It is also the same thing here in my city. Every year, the Christmas them changed with different decorations. I might share a photo or two here before the Christmas Eve. I am so loaded lately.

Why would someone waste their time going and than drive fast. What a jerk. The lights look pretty.

Exactly! Couldn't stop for photos at some of the lights because he was on our bumper. Always a bad apple on the tree...somewhere!

Friend and I went on a similar excursion tonight. So much work! Amazing light displays. Dinosaurs and igloos and sasquatch and the illusions: a ball being tossed into a hoop, a bell in a schoolhouse binging- all light illusions. Dazzling.

Yes, we had the fish jumping out of the creek, wheels turning on old time buggies, the bell ringing, etc! I imagine it took 3 months to set it all up!

What a pity that you had an idiot behind you. It would have spoilt it a bit.

It did, but I insisted that my hubby stop so I could get some pictures. However, sometimes he was so close to our bumper that we were afraid he would hit us not paying attention if we did stop.

Nope, no place to pull over. Small one way drive. The path was lined with lights on candy canes. They have a walking tour before they open daily to cars. That would be the thing to do! Just have to be in good physical condition because it is over a mile.
