Edinburgh is such a grim and gothic looking place to wander around, especially on a cold, winter night. Mist is swirling, and the restaurant we were meeting our daughter at was a league or two out of the centre. It was a Punjabi restaurant along a road with many narrow alleys leading off into the dark. We found ourselves up the Gentlman’s Entry at one point but the restaurant was its own reward - splendiferous food.

I'm glad you had good food. It would make up for a few of the other times when the food hasn't been quite so good.

Of all the countries to visit, Ireland and Scotland were the ones I always wanted to visit. I don't think my Grandmother was Irish, but she sure liked Irish men. LOL My grandfather was a Lenahan, my aunt's Dad was a Kelly, and my other aunt's Dad was a Duncan. Not quite sure if they were Irish, but the names kind of sound Irish...Not MY Mother's dad, Joesef Lenahan was Irish for sure. I got to spend some time with him. The others..not so sure. LOL But pictures of Ireland and Scotland always drew me near. Read a lot of Mystery books set in Irish, Scottish, and British Castles. Anyway, reading your post, I could almost picture the place. Interesting.
