A Christmas Thwarted

Well, it didn’t turn out to be the Christmas I planned on, but hopefully next week I’ll get to see the people in this picture (my sister’s family) since all the kids were sick yesterday. This was taken on Christmas Eve, and by that night two of the three were coughing (Annelyn (the 5 year old) woke up sick the following morning). With the beginnings of a migraine, and no munchkins coming I figured I wouldn’t push it. I sent my aunts presents with my dad, gave him a hug (he had overslept so was in a hurry), and spent Christmas with Sadie. It was nice to get so many Merry Christmas texts though…made me feel less sad.
The night ended very weird though. At 1:15am I lay on my couch to go to sleep for the night (I need a new mattress, so for now my couch is fine), and literally 30 seconds after I close my eyes some guy starts banging on my door to “let him in”. Spoiler alert: I did not let him in. My poor dog got accidentally dumped in the floor because as soon as the banging started I jumped up and ran to the door. He went away after a few minutes.
Today should be peaceful.
PS I surely am blessed to have family to miss.

This is a great picture. There are several nasty bugs going around, so skipping the visit was a very wise choice. You sure do get some creepy middle of the night visits.

How strange did you hear him banging on anyone else's door?

I am sorry that your sister and her family were down with a bug for Christmas, and then the middle of the night knocking to wake you with a startle, and poor Sadie.
Today is a new day, and hopefully they are starting to turn the corner at your sister's place.
You are right though, you are truly blessed to have family to miss.
I am sure that they miss you too.

How scary to have a stranger banging on your door and so late. I hope the children feel better soon.

I do not know what I would do if someone banged on my door at that ghastly hour
Sad you did not have your family with you to celebrate Christmas.

That's a beautiful picture of your sister and her family. I'm so sorry that you spent Christmas alone and scary to have someone banging on your door in the middle of the night. Hope everyone is feeling better now and that you can have your get together soon.
