I am quaking in my boots thinking about this upcoming storm and literally praying the power won't go out. It is deceptively sunny and calm right now, but toward the later afternoon it will start. However, tomorrow is when the bulk of the weather will be here and should snow altering with freezing rain all day. Just in case though I will charge all the electronics tonight. I will also point my car down the hill so I can get a running start., The next time I go out which may not be until Weds or Thus. Gulp!

@andriaperry Thanks, at least it looks like it won't be super windy at least initially, so that will help.

@snowy22315 For some reason I thought you were out west!
My daughter's new and future mother in law lives near Richmond and I also have a dear friend from New Orleans who lives in the Richmond area.

@kareng They might get a bit more rain there. It isn't too far from here, but we are at a higher elevation

@snowy22315 where they live they definitely would benefit. That area gets a lot of snow doesn’t it?

@shaggin Yes, they are in a snowbelt. I will get sis to try to talk them into a standby generator like LindaOH has.

Yes, I have tried parking it at the bottom and close to the road before, but for a large snow event,,it is too hard to get through snow the plows have placed there. Requires a lot of digging, being able to have momentum going down there is likely better.

We only have about two inches right now. We might get more later, but kind of doubtful I think. The big story will be the cold..and the fact that everything will freeze solid tonight.

Thanks, so far the storm is pretty anti climatic. The cold temps might not be though.

Where are you? I saw the map and it looks like the eastern half of the US is going to get hit. That includes the south and Florida if the map is right. I am not a fan of polar vortexes or expresses. I do not like this time of year and the cold it brings.

Central part of Virginia The latest weather report is saying a lot of ice... That will probably guarantee a power outage.
