So, I used some of my Christmas money to order a battery operated blanket. It is supposed to turn much colder Tuesday and Weds .and a possible snow or ice storm next week. Ice is Hell on any above ground power lines. We don't actually have them here .but not sure where the main lines are located. We had a serious ice storm once around Valentines Day and lost power for 3 days Happily, we got through the first storm OK

That sounds like a great item to spend your Christmas money on. We’ll be around 40 tomorrow, but coming Thursday and Friday it is supposed to get up to 60 degrees. Then the high goes back to mid 30s.

I never heard of a battery operated blanket but it sounds like a good purchase for cold days/nights even if the power doesn't go out. Certainly hope there's no outages in the upcoming days ahead

@Marilynda1225 Spring and Summer will be here soon enough, and then we will all be complaining about the heat.. I can wait personally..although I don't like being cold.

@snowy22315 I'm just so tired of winter. All the freezing cold, and snow that doesn't amount to enough for the HOA to get rid of so it's been a pain.

I have looked at those, and even poncho type, battery operated. I am sure that it would be great if the power went out, provided you had enough batteries, because you would not be able to charge rechargeable ones.

Some of them come with their own power bank or could be recharged in the car with a 12 volt port I think this might be able to be charged with a USB..so if your computer is still charge from earlier d can get charged from that I should check the specs again. OK I looked comes with a power bank as well as USB charging

It comes with a rechargeable unit. How often it needs to be recharged not sure. I think you can charge in it in a USB port

Up here for thinking! (taps head) Battery operated is a stroke of genius. I hadn't thought about blankets with batteries I guess.

I considered this. I rely on my heated throw and the electric blanket on my bed. But I have an emergency weather radio that helps with this. The charge lasts several days. It has a hand crank if the charge runs out, I can plug a regular electric item into one of the ports. It has USB ports to charge phones, etc. It saves a lot of worrying, and I plugged my throw into it about two years ago when we had no power due too an ice storm. They aren’t all expensive, and it is very reassuring to know your phone can be charged.

That sounds like a nifty gadget. I have weather radios here.and at least once has a crank, but I don't think they have the cability to charge anything. I stopped using them because we get so many thunderstorms in the spring and summer, they would go off Everytime there was a warning .not fun to be woken up at night for a generic thunderstorm alert

We have above ground here and in the country, so lots of trees and/or limbs to fall on them and wipe out the power. Enjoy your new blanket when it comes in!!

Friend's refrigerator delivery has been delayed until Feb. not sure why. I told him to cancel the order and get another one that included a haul away. He probably won't listen.
