What will she do with these?

A woman on a freebie Facebook group was asking for people to save her used dryer softener sheets and unwanted spools of thread.
Every year she and her kids enter a fashion show where they make an outfit out of reused items. Last year one of them they made was made out of plastic spoons. It turned out neat when she shared a photo of it complete. She had a lot of people wash and save them for her.
I offered to save her my dryer sheets. Wednesday I drove 39 miles on to meet her and give them to her. Luckily it was only a few miles from where I get groceries so I was able to do a curbside pick up afterwards.
So what exactly do you think she will do with the dryer sheets? I’m thinking maybe she will use them to stuff a skirt of a dress to make it puffy and maybe the sleeves.

One lady I knew where I lived previously collected bread sacks. She used them to braid together and made rugs and mats out of. Tons of people saved their bread sacks for her. Hey, at least she found a use for them!

@MarieCoyle huh I have seen rugs made out of clothing strips and things like that but can’t even picture ones made from plastic bags. You are right though that’s awesome she found a use for them.

She was always trying to use things up that other people threw away. Yes, rag rugs were very popular and many people still make them. I had never heard of braiding plastic bags until she made them.

I have no idea but if she needs them glad you could give her some, Perhaps she might make a veil out of them,

Or an entire wedding dress? It's her kids that will be doing the making.

@BarBaraPrz I actually had to edit the whole post after finding her original post and last years post. She and each of her daughters make a dress then they show them off at a fashion show.

I use mine as dust cloths. But I suppose they could be made into a quilt, though it wouldn't be very durable.

@BarbaraPrz I use mine to do that as well then toss them in the burn pile.

Possibly make the entire dress or shirt and pants from several layers of the used dryer sheets. I think three of them in a layer would keep the person modest or one layer if the person doesn't care who looks at what.

@Daddyevil I’m not sure if even three layers thick would be enough and it would look horrible

@wolfgirl569 the designs of her and her daughters last year were impressive. I can’t wait to see what they make with these items. It’s nice to have been able help out with something I usually just burn.

Maybe sew them in layers to make a very ethereal looking outfit. As you said, maybe fluffy.

@GardenGerty that’s a good guess. I hadn’t thought of doing layers. Could look pretty.

She sounds very creative.I admire her good works too. It could be stuffing for something. Would you be able to ask her. Maybe ruffkes?

@snowy22315 ruffles is an excellent idea I hadn’t thought of. It is a cool thing she is doing. She definitely is very creative. She will share a photo with the group after the dresses are all complete.

@Lindaohio everything they use to make the outfits had to be something reused they can’t buy anything. It’s pretty impressive what they come up with.

I can see saving, even reusing but there is place when it just gets rather weird.

@celticeagle it would just be a one time thing for fun. Wearing a dress made of spoons wouldn’t be very practical.

@celticeagle it took her a few months of asking people to save them for her. Oh her own probably would have taken years if she even used disposable ones at all. I so rarely use them.

@shaggin .........But who wants to save spoons for ages until you have enough to use?

It should be interesting to see what she comes up with. It was nice that you drove your dryer sheets miles away to contribute to her project

@Marilynda1225 it’s so weird how people are. She said thanks as I handed them to her but that was it. I always make sure later that night to thank people again via text or messenger.

@Jessy3236 it’s a really neat way to reuse what would normally be garbage. This woman and her children are very creative. I can’t wait to see what they do with the items this year. I’m glad to have been able to help out by saving them for her instead of burning them as I usually do.
