Jesus and the disciples, continuing on Their journey, left the city of Judea headed for the city of Galilee. To get to Galilee They had to pass thru the city of Sychar. Located within the city of Sychar was a ‘water well,’ which was named after The Prophet Jacob, which was called Jacob’s Well. As Jesus and His disciples were walking by this ‘well,’ He felt a little tired, so He sat down to rest. He told the disciples to go on ahead into town and pick up ‘some goodies’ from the store. He said that He’d wait there until they returned. It was around noon and the sun was beaming; It was so hot that you could ‘fry an egg on the sidewalk.’ As He sat at this well waiting for the disciples to make it back with ‘the goodies,’ a woman, who was by nationality a Samaritan, showed up. Jesus was a Jew, and the Jews did not socialize with the Samaritans at all. They fought and argued more than ‘cats and dogs!’ She’d come to the ‘well’ to draw out enough water for her to use that day. Using a rope she lowered her bucket into the well to withdraw some water. Jesus, sitting there drooling, said to the Samaritan woman, “give Me some of that!” The woman responded, “Excuse me…are You talking to me!? ‘You’ Jews consider yourselves too good to deal with ‘us’ Samaritans; but now, You’re sitting there with Your tongue darn near touching the ground from thirst and You want to hold a conversation! Well, if that doesn’t beat all! Well, I never…” Jesus growing tired of this ‘chatter,’ interrupted the woman and said, “Look woman, I don’t have the patience or the time for this right now! Do you know how hot it is!?” The woman butted in, “Do You!?” Jesus snapped back, “You are absolutely clueless…if you knew Who it was that was asking you for a drink you’d hurry up and get it for Me. You’d also ask Me for some ‘special water’ that only I am able to give. This ‘special water’ quenches your inner thirst and gives life to those who drink it. If you knew God then you would know Me…you would asked Me for some of this ‘special water,’ and I would gladly give you some.” The woman interrupted Jesus again saying, “You’re tripping…You’ve been out in the sun too long! This well is very deep; and, besides that, You don’t have anything to draw any water out with! Tell me this, where is it that You plan on getting this ‘special water’ from!? Our forefather Jacob, along with all of his sons and animals, drank from this well! Are You greater than Jacob who this well was named after!?” Jesus responded, “You’re darn right! Check this out: Everyone who drinks from this well will become thirsty again; but the water that I give will quench not only the thirst of the body but also the thirst of the soul. This water that I give is ‘The True Living Water.’ It revives not only the body but also the soul!” Once again, this ‘chatter box of a woman’ interrupted saying, “Yeah right…give me some!” She continued, “I’m just messing with You …unless You’re going to do it.” Jesus, knowing that she was just being ‘a smart aleck,’ said, “O.K.; go and get your husband and come back here so that I can give both of you some.” The woman responded, “I’m not married.” Jesus snapped back, “Well, at least in this you have told the truth. You’ve had five previous husbands and the man that you’re ‘shacking up with now’ is certainly not one of them!” At this the woman shouted, “Wow…You must be A Prophet! How else could You know this!? So now let me get this straight, You’re telling me that our ancestors worshipped on this mountain, but they should’ve been worshipping in Jerusalem!” Jesus said to her, “No…I tell you what though, the time is near when it will do you no good to worship here on this mountain or in the city of Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship ‘a god’ whom you do not know; however, we Jews worship the ‘One True God,’ who we both know and communicate with. Believe it or not, salvation itself first began with the Jews. The time is now that those who worship ‘The Father,’ must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. This is the type of worship that ‘God, The Father,’ will honor. You see, God is not flesh and blood…HE is Spirit. Those who worship HIM must worship HIM in Spirit and in Truth!” The woman now spoke saying, “I am aware that ‘The Messiah, who is The Christ,’ is coming into the world and that when He arrives He will reveal to us all things.” Jesus interrupted saying, “He is here!” At this very moment His disciples returned. They walked up on Him while He was talking with the Samaritan woman and started ‘wigging out,’ saying, “What are You doing…why are You talking with her!? You know that we don’t talk to ‘those people!” At this moment, the Samaritan woman dropped the jug that she was using to draw water with, and ‘took off’ for the city. She was both upset and delighted at the same time. Upset because the disciples were talking about her to Jesus as though she wasn’t even present…as though she was ‘the invisible lady!’ She was delighted with having met Jesus. She finally made it to the city screaming at the top of her lungs, “Come and meet this ‘Man!’ He’s amazing! He prophesied to me everything that has happened in my life! You’ve got to see and hear Him for yourself! Could this be ‘The Messiah…The Christ,’ which is to come!?” At this moment the whole crowd, having heard what this woman said, ran out quickly to meet Him.

I haven't heard of this book until now. It looks like something I would really get into reading. Where did you purchase it? Who is the author? I'd like to have a look for myself. Thanks for sharing it.
