Many stores are limiting egg purchasing now.

I didn't really hear about this until yesterday. It seems the stores are not all getting all of the eggs they order now. My local store that is basically my place to grab milk in a hurry is limiting all the types and sizes of eggs to two dozen per order. I read online that all three of our Aldi stores are doing the same, and so is our Ruler store. Walmart, I was told, has no eggs to limit--and hasn't really had hardly any to speak of for some time now.
I guess if you want eggs, and you find them at an affordable price, you should buy them. They keep for a long time and are a good source of protein for us.
Are your stores limiting egg purchases?

Really. Let's want it and make it so. They can, why can't we?

It will probably first affect the stores with the cheaper prices, but who really knows at this point. At any rate, eggs are definitely valuable right now!

I have ordered eggs several times since the holidays and haven't had a problem. Knock on wood. I don't know what I would do without eggs.

@MarieCoyle ......we have been lucky here so far. We live in a farming area so that helps.

It's just a guessing game here. A person can find them for the most part, it's the price no one is ever sure about.

Some of our stores are truly struggling to keep eggs in stock...and the prices keep climbing up.

I use eggs to bake with, etc. besides just eating them, I would miss them if they were unavailable and/or unaffordable.

I bought an 18 pack last week and am planning to buy another in a few days when we go shopping again. If Walmart here doesn't have any, I'll drop by your house and raid your fridge.

@MarieCoyle Once in a great while, Pretty will agree to have scrambled eggs with "stuff" in them when I offer to cook some for her. Usually, she doesn't eat eggs. (She even picks the egg out of the sausage, egg and cheese croissants I buy for my breakfasts. I've asked her to keep the eggs for me instead of throwing them away but they're still in the trash when I go looking.)
If we can't get eggs tomorrow, I'll still have one carton of 18 full in the fridge. That's a good two weeks worth of eggs for me to eat, but thank you for being willing to share with me. I appreciate that.

My son really likes eggs, we go through them it seems....I do try to stay ahead with them, but there are times when my supply gets low just like everyone else's. However, I would share with you!!

If we all shared what we could share whether it be eggs or the proverbial cup of sugar or just what we were able to share, the world might be a better world. Plus, it’s always good to share with a friend.

It happens here too when something is short of supply. But it's a temporary thing. I am sure that it would be temporary there too. Eggs have become quite costly here too

@MarieCoyle Oh! Hopefully it was temporary. Eggs are daily consumables and they going in shortage would be a concern for many.

According to news clips and such, it will not end any time soon, due to massive outbreaks of Avian flu in birds.

It is sad stores have to do this, but some people have no care or regard for others. Richmond had a water crisis for a few days when we had the snow storm, and the public water plant issued a boil water advisory. I saw these people in a store with a cartful of singles ofbottled water when I was in the area. I said to the lady in front of me wouldn't a case be easier? She said there were none back there, but she said "Really nice of them to hoard all the water." I hadn't really thought of that, but I said well maybe they are getting for the neighborhood or a church or something." Who knows? There are certainly people who hoard though...look how some were with the toilet paper during the pandemic. Shameful!

My oldest daughter has a friend that bought so much TP back in 2020, that she had to store it stashed all over her house--and she told my daughter last week she hasn't purchased any since then! She isn't a hoarder, but she said she panicked over the thought of no TP....weird.
Something like having water or no water is life altering, I agree that there should be a limit so everyone has a chance to get some, not just one person.

I have never heard here about limiting egg purchases. But, on the other hand, I would never buy over 2 dozen eggs at one time.and I love eggs.

@MarieCoyle In my country it is easy to buy different sizes and in cartons of 6 eggs, a dozen or 30 eggs. If you want more you have to go to special places where they only sell eggs and poultry. I don´t need to go there.

Our eggs are available for purchase in different sizes, although most people buy them by the dozen. You can generally buy them in a half dozen(which are often almost as much $ as a dozen) or the regular dozen. Then there is a carton that has a dozen and a half 18 eggs. Many stores also sell a large box of 60 , or 5 dozen, too. So there are lots of choices for different needs.

I am fortunate to have a good friend who raises chickens and keeps me in eggs, so mine are good and fresh when I get them.

Lately I have been seeing such signs too. Everywhere. The best price I have seen for regular large eggs is 3.49 - at Trader Joes. I am actually glad to see such signs, otherwise people will hoard them as we saw during the pandemic times.

@MarieCoyle This week, I found that going later in the day, many stores had no eggs. I went into a store right when it opened, and they had an "egg line" . . . I got my eggs . . . the cashier told me the day before they sold all the eggs by 9am. And part of it was because they are not getting a big shipment of eggs now. I'm glad folks seem to be good about the limits.

From what I have heard people say, the past week pretty much every store that sells eggs is putting a limit on them. I hope people don't hoard eggs...but they could very well do that. Like you said, during the pandemic the TP hoarding was so ridiculous, and it could happen again.

The prices of eggs here are all over the place, from about $4 per dozen clear up to $8-$9 per dozen depending on the free range, organic, etc. thing.

Yes around here, western NC, the stores are limiting how many you can buy. A couple of weeks ago the stores didn't have any. So when they got some in last week, I bought some but about choked at the mark up on them. Today I got some more so we should be set for a little while now. We eat them almost every day.

I’ve not tried that. I am one of those weird people that likes the egg yolk to be very firm, not runny at all. No one else in my family likes them that way. Not sure why I do but I do.

My son usually wants them maybe twice a week for breakfast. I enjoy them, too. Someone posted on facebook the other day that they paid $12 a dozen for eggs, I believe that was close to Boston. I could not/would not, pay that for them. That's just a lot, a dollar an egg!

I did not hear anything about this , perhaps its because of avian flu. This is first time I am reading about same. From what I understand most regions in US have the limit on eggs. Little surprised to see Walmart has no eggs for sale. In this scenario , getting eggs at affordable prices are a challenge and if we are able to procure them , then have them long term. Well, here in India , we do not have limits placed on anything. So we are lucky so far in that aspect. However , I am scared on coming summer as last summer we had water scarcity. Well, have a wonderful day ahead!

The last time I was out and about, which was on Saturday, I did not see any limits. Of course, we only went to Walmart and none of the other stores. I will keep an eye out for it. I suspect the prices will jump again if there are shortages, and of course, I won't buy them if they cost too much.
I have about a dozen and a half in the fridge.
