Yes, it's official. I turn 60 today. That means I'm what you'd call a "woman of a certain age." That expression refers to a woman middle-aged or older. Mostly older.
The phrase " of a certain age" dates back to the 1700's and was used almost exclusively talking about women. They sometimes referred to them as spinsters if they were unmarried or even old maids.
I don't feel 60. I certainly don't act 60. Please don't tell me whether or not I look 60.
Are Boy Scouts going to start helping me across the street now? I was surprised to find a "Sixties and Me" website this morning when I searched turning 60.
Here's a photo taken by our tour guide of me in front of the Taj Mahal in India last month.

You look awesome! And 60 is young still. My 60 year old daughter (with some bacl problems) does something called biodance and yoga. I think that she is crazy, but she is happily crazy. I will be 80 in a few months and now I have accepted that I´m an ol´witch. I will not accpt the word "old lady". THAT is old. And yes, sometimes nice youngsters help me in the streets or open doors for me. I thank them with grace and a smile.

@looeyville The first sixty are the worst. Now that you’ve got them over you life will start to pick up.

Well, you must admit you don't act or look 60. So, happy birthday! It's a cold time to celebrate, though, isn't it.
