I really don't know who to believe, what to eat what not to eat. Whatever happened to an apple a day keeps the doctor away ?
For some time now l have been hearing some health experts say that fructose from fruits high in sugar could lead to liver disease . All my life l have been told that fruits and vegetables are good for you ( no problem with vegetables) but what about fruits?
Who to believe? What should we tell our children and grandchildren? Any Nutritionists on mylot? What do you think?

Anything fresh, fruit or vegetables, are good for you. It's not a actually fruit or vegetables, it's the pesticides that's the problem.

Well, eating one apple a day isn't overloading your live, I am sure. Fruits and veggies are low calorie and filled with nutrients so I will continue to eat them. The health experts sound like quacks.

I get just as confused as you do. One day something is good for you and the next it's not. I try to limit my fruits that are higher in sugar and eat more of those that are lower. I don't necessarily cut out any fruit because I really like fruit.
I hope you get some professional answers here as it would be very interesting to see what a nutritionists opinion is.

@Kandae11 watermelon is my favorite and I know it's higher in sugar than other fruits.

Well, I know bananas have a very high amount of sugar so I stay away from them. But really, a healthy person with no medical issues just has to make sure they don’t overeat the recommended fruit amount a day. If people do that, they shouldn’t have too many problems. However, if one is diabetic, they just have to remember bananas and watermelon have a high sugar content so be careful. If we all kept to the recommended lean protein, a few fruits, and several veggies a day, we wouldn’t have to worry too much about specific fruits. That’s what my nurse practitioner told me anyway. (I don’t have diabetes, but my dad does.)

I must admit , with some fruits it is hard sticking to the recommended amount - especially when the fruit grows in your own backyard and you remember the saying " waste not , want not".
Of course you are perfectly right - moderation is key - especially when you are dealing with certain health issues....

I agree with you and other myLoters that moderation is the best idea. Nothing in excess is usually a good idea. We just need to be sure to wash all fruits and veggies very well.

It’s so confusing, right? ?? One day something is “super healthy,” and the next, it’s the villain of the food world. But honestly, whole fruits in moderation are usually fine—it’s the processed sugars and excessive fructose intake that can be problematic. Balance is key! ???? Maybe the best advice for kids and grandkids is to eat a variety of real, whole foods and not stress too much over every new health trend. ??

I have come to believe it doesn't matter what you eat, someone will always tell you it's not good for you and will kill you. I'm old school. A balanced diet wins every time. I stopped listening to the nay-sayers about foods that used to be good for you no longer are. I eat healthy and I'm enjoying what I eat.
Don't worry about it. Eat an apple a day.
