Brothers and bread

The photo is of another pretty outfit that was once worn by my nieces. We went to see Vince’s eldest brother today. He is in hospice while the next eldest is in hospital. Both are terminally ill. They share a birthday. The younger jokes that he wants to die before the eldest because the eldest has always been first in everything. Both are devout Catholics and are quite content to wait out their time. In other news, today our supermarket had FOUR loaves of the bread we like. They usually only have two but I wrote how Vince said if they only have two, sales can’t be expected to increase. Yesterday there were three loaves; today there are four. I find it really funny. Can’t wait to see if there are five tomorrow.

I’m following your bread trail. If you get to five, along with two fishes, you’ll be able to feed everyone!

@1creekgirl It's quite exciting! We get in the shop and dash along to the bread aisle to check on how many loaves of 'our' bread there are. Ah well, small things amuse small minds.

I’m sorry that Vince is enduring TWO brothers being terminally ill at the same time. It’s good that the store is listening to you and carrying the bread you like!

@JudyEv — if you keep buying it, they’ll keep stocking it. I’m glad their faith is keeping them strong.

It's a bit sad. One is 88 and the other 86. We're doing a lot of hospital visiting at the moment. As regards the bread, it's the high point of our day to check out the bread stocks.

Oh poor Vince, and poor brothers. They seem to have a good attitude about it all though. I guess everyone can be thankful for that. Mutiplying loaves...good!

@JudyEv I guess, waiting to die however, how depressing is that? You would wake up every day and think is this going to be it? Glad they have peace though.

It's good that they've made their peace with whatever and are now basically just waiting for the end.

Thanks. I think the elder one may be the first to go although the other one has been ill for much longer.

That is a cute child's outfit. I'm sure that it brings back fond memories. Vince and his siblings have certainly had a challenging go of it the past year or so with their health. I know that hospice keeps one comfortable in their end stage, I hope that they can peacefully depart this life and pass over when their turn comes.

Thank you Julia. There is a fair amount of hospital visiting going on at the moment. The brothers are 88 and 86. It's a bit of a comfort that they are ready to go.

They are 88 and 86 so at least don't have young families. He has six siblings. One sister passed away some years ago.

I was thinking if it is because it is really cheaper to buy in bulk which is why you get to see more loaves of bread.

I think they just had a think about it and reckoned it was time to try having more of that bread in stock. If it sells, no doubt they'll continue to stock more.

If something is a good seller, you should always have more of it. Even if it's kept in the back until what's on the shelf sells. Not saying keep it for days but if it's something that sells out in like a few hours. It's what I try to do. Happy birthday to your nieces!
