Life Update

Hi, Lotters! In my last post, I wrote that the manager asked me to come to the preschool on January 31st to do a demo teaching. I prepared my lesson plan and visual aids for one week. On the day of my demo teaching, I arrived an hour early. One teacher ushered me in and assisted me in using the computer. The staff were all kind. To cut the story short, I was hired. I signed the contract. And from Feb. 24 to 28, I am going to have a workshop. I am excited to take on this new journey. I just want to share the bible verse above. I've prayed for this job. And God answered it. I've been rejected a couple of times. " You cannot teach English because you cannot communicate in the Korean language," recruitment managers would always tell me. I find it ironic because they look for non-native and native English speakers, but the interview is always in Korean. In this preschool, they do not require teachers to speak Hangul (Korean). On top of that, the Korean directors and managers are very fluent in English. Thus, there is no language barrier. I prayed for this. It took time but God answered.

If he had not answered it meant the job was not for you. God keeps his promises.

I had a similar issue in the US at one preschool where I worked. I spoke mostly English and (bad) Spanish to the kids, most of whom were from Spanish-speaking cultures. But it bothered me that the other teachers in that classroom would speak to the kids (and other teachers) ONLY in Spanish. I did not feel a sense of collaboration.

@Iam_jauntyjen I think we should celebrate the ability to learn several languages together.

It doesn't make sense, right???? I mean, my daughter learned English without me teaching her English. You know what I mean.

Congratulations! Great news . Great to hear you got the job and well we get things sometimes when we least expect them. Sometimes , people also put crazy rules like native and non-native demands. My only suggestion is always look to improve even if you are good in what you do. If the hunger to improve your skills is always there , you will always excel at things even on long run. Plus , you would be able to adress future challenges as well. I would definitely say God answered your prayers , in time and definitely this is the path you should be taking. Go ahead in the path and excel yourself. Good Luck!
