An awful lot of stores are closing here. Five restaurants have closed. Restaurants here are charging surcharges for eggs if you want them with your breakfast. An extra dollar per egg. I think for that price I would tell them no eggs. Of course right now I am not buying any eggs for my household. It is 41F here so no walk around the river today.

I made myself some French toast for breakfast this morning. Two eggs, some spices, a glob of milk, and three pieces of bread. No tip is required. I am full until dinner tonight.

@jstory07 It is delicious once in a while. I used two eggs but had some of the mixture left over. I cooked it up like eggs. I was stuffed and was not hungry for hours. Later, we got some tacos from Taco Belle.

My sister cannot stop buying eggs. I keep telling her lets buy a chicken, but she like dogs and have to feed them. I am like probably cheaper than buying eggs. She used to get 5 dozen at a time, now we down to a single carton of 12 at 10 dollars a pop. Things will close this is why corrupt inflation sucks. It usually the people who do it honest too.

We have had chickens in the past. We lived in the country, so they ran around free range and we locked them in the coop at night. Their eggs were bright orange and they tasted wonderful.

We don't have any recent closed stores here, but one I used to like has been closed for 3 or 4 years and nothing has been put in its place. Sigh! It was like the cornerstone of that plaza. However, now they have Dollar Tree in that same plaza, and of the two I prefer DT. Eggs, cheapest price I saw was 7.79 for 18. I don't need eggs, but if I have to get some I will buy those. 18 would last me weeks.

It's happened around here too . . . there are many empty retail spots that have actually been empty for a long while now. I can understand how restaurants have to charge accordingly - but it's enough to make us not want to eat out as much. If you happen to have a Trader Joe's in your area, they seem to have the best price on eggs still. But you have to go when they open - the supply apparently lasts for about an hour.

No Trader Joe's here. Winco here is cheaper than Walmart so we have been shopping there.

This is really crazy. I cannot imagine why are eggs so expensive in a country which can easily produce enough eggs for its citizens.

The chick flu killed a lot of the chickens.

I think they create artificial shortages to bring the price up. If avian flu affected all the chickens, why is chicken so cheap in the market? There are not many eggs but tons of chicken. What aren't they telling us?

Are they closed permanently or because of supply chain problems and hope to reopen once rump makes eggs cheap again? What does Leon Muskrat have to say about it?

Eggs are ridiculous. We have about a dozen left from our Costco run three weeks ago and not buying more for awhile. It's bad here in WA like it is in OR. I'm driving to OR next month for doctor visits and just go "home" for a few days. My oldest is still in Albany and said prices are higher than my last trip.

@jstory07 I don't either. We are trying to make a lot of our own fresh produce and drive less. I am not pulling my trailer to OR this time and will stay at a hotel. Still cheaper than pulling the RV eating more gas. My trips are less and less.

I am still getting my eggs from my friend that I barter with. Once in a great while I have had to buy some, but it's been several years. I still check the prices of eggs when I am at the stores. Daughter said yesterday that Walmart's eggs Friday morning were $6.19 a dozen for the cheapest ones. A sealed pack of 2 cartons of 18 eggs, total 36 eggs, was $18.99, and the big box of eggs holding 60 eggs,/5 dozen total, was $27.99 She has been checking the prices there when she and her husband go shopping. Like everyone else, they are on a quest to save where they can.
