They celebrated me royally for my delayed birthday!!

On my actual birthday, the weather and the roads were not the best for any highway/interstate travel. Since I was born in January in Chicago, I am totally used to this, and have had many birthdays that we celebrated on a different day, it doesn't matter, I just love spending time with family and friends. My oldest daughter and son in law and I celebrated in a quiet but fun day. We went to Barnes and Noble(all three of us are big readers) had coffee and walked around looking at all the books, etc. Then they took me to a wonderful (but way to expensive!) local restaurant and I had a delicioius dinner. Chicken Marsela with fresh sauted spinach and mushrooms, tiny roasted potatoes, delicious bread. and a wonderful salad. The portions were big enough for about 3 people!! That was packaged up to take home, and we ordered coffee. Then they surprised me with a delicious lemon cream cake that was absolutely to die for...and of course, I had to take most of that home as well, it was all just too much food. But so good! One of my son's friends came over and stayed with him. The friend wanted to, and they both had decided to eat (weird combo, but guys can be weird) pizza and spaghetti. I made the spaghetti sauce before I left, and the friend brought the pizza--he had made it at home knowing how my son likes homemade pizza!! The plan was that I would bring them a dinner if they wanted it, but this is what they preferred. His friend said they ate and watched a movie and my son fell asleep during the movie, but when I got home they were watching TV. It was so nice to be celebrated and I had such a good meal and wonderful company. My other son and his family are all down with influenza--they seem to be taking turns having it, and do not want me to get it so I have not seen any of them for several weeks. My daughter (the daughter I was with) recently had surgery and has been resting and recovering, so we were really celebrating her as well as me, I guess. I felt guilty for going out, in a way, since my son wasn't up to it. But he said they had a great time and good food and talked computers and such, which is what he likes--so I guess it was a nice evening for them, too. It was so nice of his friend to do this for us, he is a busy man with a young family. It's so wonderful when friends offer to pitch in at times. And this friend made my son's day a lot better, I am very thankful!! It was a very full day for me, I had to get the at-home stuff done so I could hand over the reins and be gone for awhile, and then when I did get home, it started sleeting/icing about 3 miles from home. But I made it before it got too slick, yay! That was my delayed birthday celebration. I could not imagine that anyone had a better evening for their birthday than this, I am so thankful for my kiddos!
