Along the Way…

Let me tell you the greatest thing in the world about the advent of the phone camera: you can take pictures of everything. For you kids: back in the old days, you had this stuff called film, and it had a limited number of “exposures” on it. That meant you could only take 12, 24, or 36 pictures in a roll. (THEN you had to take it to Fotomat to get it developed, hoping the picture of your goofy friend cannon balling into the pool came out.) Because of the unlimited space and the instant gratification of knowing the photo came out, I take pictures of anything I find amusing. Like these random things from the trip. Top left is the office welcome sign at Seabreeze High School. If the school secretary is crabby, don’t say the sign didn’t warn you! (Of course, being the Sandcrabs, it’s in their blood. ) Top right is a sign that brings out the comedian in me. It’s in several of the Florida state parks, a warning to drive slowly because there are lots of turtles in the parks. Of course, I read that as “slow turtle crossing,” as opposed to fast turtles crossing. (I’m here all week, tip your wait staff, drive carefully going home.) On the bottom left, we have some of the humor you find in re-created old towns. That’s a dentist’s office door. Note the name: Dr. Yankem (“yank ‘em”). And finally, for all you people my age who grew up with the Road Runner, I present a dented Acme Barricade. Wile E. Coyote approved, no doubt. I have fun doing silly things like this along the way. Hope it brings a smile to your face, too!
