Who Wouldn’t Be Happy?!

Look at that. Just look at that!
You have to remember, my car is NOT a hybrid. It’s also EPA rated at 28 MPG city/32 MPG highway.
On my trip, over two weeks and 2,782.5 miles, I averaged 36.2 miles per gallon. That’s about what the hybrid averages for highway driving!!!
Who wouldn’t be happy with performance like that?!
Of course, the real reason I’m smiling in the picture is I’m at the Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine.

It’s the oldest European city in America. It’s in northern Florida, a few miles south of Jacksonville on the east coast.

You sure do know how to maintain a car to get that kind of performance from it. 
My grandfather, who immigrated from Belgium, used to tell me that St. Augustine, FL, was the prettiest place in the world that he had ever been. And that included Hawaii, he and my grandmother travelled all through Europe and the US and Canada. St. Augustine was the prettiest place in his eyes.

I definitely think St. Augustine is gorgeous. I think every place is uniquely beautiful. Niagara Falls took my breath away both times I went. I wept for joy when I went to Badlands in South Dakota.

Very pleased with it! Got my second-highest ever tank, too, 39 MPG driving those nice flat state roads in Florida.

Last week there were two people arrested here for racing on the interstate loop. They were in a Honda Civic and a Honda Accord, both doing over 100 MPH. While I’m impressed, it wasn’t me, and I don’t drive like that.

Good to know you are more than satisfied with your car's performance.
The US holiday package included Florida, that helped me create great memories. Busch Gardens is one that I enjoyed the most and we left for our Bahamas Cruise from Florida ( Port Canaveral)

I have to tell you a funny thing about Busch Gardens. We went there when I lived in Florida, I think I was 13 or 14. We toured through the brewery, and I got “drunk” off the smell.

Wow! That is a lot of miles. That’s the equivalent of travelling back and forth the length of Britain 3 times.
I’m not as impressed with your MPG though. Our cars are much more fuel efficient, and have to be because of the price of gas (petrol). Currently we are paying around £1.40 per litre (which equates to about £6.36 or $8 per gallon)
By my reckoning it would cost you approximately $615 for your trip over here.

Sounds like you had a great time. No mention of music though? Driving gives you a great opportunity to turn the volume up!

@FourWalls Yeah, we are totally ripped off with fuel prices. Most of it is duty imposed by the government. They are desperate for money so they tax us on everything and anything.
I like Jimmy Buffett. Margaritaville and all that (meaning I can’t remember any others!)

Wow, that’s a lot. I didn’t pay more than $3.29 a gallon, and most of the time it was $2.79-$2.89. (£2.21). I think my total gas bill was less than $300 (£238).

I’m very thankful to have such great mileage.
I don’t know how you measure it in Australia, but the Canadian way is liters per 100 km. You know how obstinate we Americans are.
