Living Out of a Duffel Bag

That's right. I live out of a duffel bag. I don't own many material things. I know exactly where all my belongings are because of how little I own. Here are some things I own: 7 t-shirts, 1 long sleeve shirt, 2 button down shirts for work, 3 pairs of skinny jeans, 2 pairs of work slacks, 7 pairs of socks, 1 pair of pumps for my upcoming interview, 1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair of flip flops, 1 toothbrush, 1 tube of toothpaste, 1 pack of floss, 1 bottle of mouth wash, 1 bottle of shampoo, 1 bottle of face wash. You get the idea. I don't own much. I own less than 100 things total. If I were to suddenly move tomorrow, all I would have to do is scoop everything up and toss them into my duffel bag. And guess what? They would all fit. It's so convenient for me to own so little. I am on a tight budget and only buy what I absolutely need for myself, excluding the occasional gift for my family. I love living out of a duffel bag. I've done it for so long that I don't know how to live any way else.

Thank you. I love living like this. I don't want or need more in terms of possessions. I'm okay with what I have. I just want a job to move out and live independently far away from the toxic people in my life. A simple life is best. I have no big dreams or ambitions unless peace and quiet counts!

As the old song say, “Give Me the Simple Life.” That’s about all I travel with (along with some laundry detergent).

I've never heard of that song, but I sure love the title. Don't forget the underwear. I didn't mention it in the post itself since I felt a bit embarrassed to do so. Lol!

You do not need so much to live. As long as your basic needs are there then that it is

@lilacskies that is great. At least you are not dependent on those big stuff to be able to survive

It’s interesting how some people have so much stuff and a lot of it is not needed or needs to be thrown out. Good that you don’t have that.

Yes, that's right. I am an extreme minimalist at this point and will probably die living out of a duffel bag.

That makes things very simple and good! Trying to start downsizing here. Too much stuff that we don't use around here.

@lilacskies That is one reason I have the flea market booth. The county it is in is a depressed area and used clothing sells very good there. The people are happy to get good clothes at good prices. I don't make a killing there and do have monthly rent to cover, but as long as I'm coming out ahead, I'll probably stay with it as long as I am healthy and able.

@lilacskies I'm excited. I ordered a lock box today that I can either put jewelry in or Farmasi products for the flea market. I had a locked display once before that someone broke into and busted the display. I'm going to try to get this one in the community area that is right across from the office. There is never space there, but I will try to wiggle it in. I've been asking since I've been there --since 2016!!

@kareng That's really awesome! Keep it up! I'm glad you are making money even after paying the rent.

@lilacskies It’s got to be better than living in a box, like Living in a Box did, surely?
