I saw these wax treats on Facebook the other day. I haven’t seen them in decades. They said that they were vintage nostalgic treats from the 90’s. I beg to differ. I enjoyed them as a child in the 60’s and 70’s. I guess they had a comeback in the 90’s. I wasn’t aware. The bottles were wax and you bit the top off and drank the various flavors of syrup like liquid. Do any of you remember these ?

I wonder when they first came out ? I need to look them up. Did you get the seashell candy in Germany too ? We enjoyed them in the 70’s in Germany. They were plastic seashells with honey in them. You licked it out.

I sure do they were called Nikl Nips. After I drank the liquid, I would chew the wax. I know, I was a strange child.

I don’t recall the taste being anything special, but they were fun.

I do remember those and I have to agree they were around before the 90s

I guess they were around even before I was born. Not sure what year they first appeared.

I agree. They didn’t taste bad, but not great either.

@Tampa_girl7 I guess they were just unique, which was their entire appeal.

I have never seen these before. What flavors were these syrup like liquid? Are these a type of soda?

No not soda. They were tiny. Maybe 2 inches, mostly wax with a small amount of syrup flavors of fruity things I think. I can’t remember it’s been at least 50 years since I’ve had one.

@Tampa_girl7 So interesting. I've never seen them before. Do you still have any sweets now like candy or ice cream?

Yes, I remember buying them as a kid in the 60s! I also remember buying them for Pretty in the 90s...
Did you chew the bottles like gum after you drank the liquid in them?

Yes, we chewed them. I’m not sure why it was so fun.

@Tampa_girl7 I suspect you were poor like us so you didn't get gum very often. We chewed the wax bottles and we also chewed honeycomb when mom or dad got honey.

I haven’t seen them since I was a child. If I did come across them I might get them once for old times sake.

Yes, I remember these. For some reason I didn't ever care for them. Biting the wax top off was just not very appealing to me and I think that was a turn off. But it's fun to remember the old type of candies.

The wax didn’t taste good, but we would chew it.

I didn't like having a mouthful of wax. It just seemed rather nasty to me.

Yep. They were 50's and beyond. Not my favorite, but I have seen and had a few.

I do remember these from childhood (right - that was way before the 90s
). I remember because the first time I saw them was at a birthday party. I had no clue what they were . . . I took a bit and chewed on it - I thought the whole thing was edible
.

This is news to me. Never seen them before. What happens to the empty wax bottles?

Sure do remember, Wax bottles were my first drinks of coke also in the 60s. Apparently you can still get them on Amazon.
