A place to sit quietly

The photo is of the deck that the owners of this house have had constructed. It’s a lovely place to sit and look out over the valley. If you sit quietly, you see lots of birds on the lawn and in the trees. The quendas also come out to feed on the lawn.
There is a big umbrella that can be opened up to give more shade but it acts like a big sail so isn’t the best if there is much breeze. We’ve been sitting out there each evening and having a quiet drink.

@sallypup When Australia was colonised the British settlers gave names they knew to similar animals. So our bandicoots may be different to any you have. They are different from Indian bandicoots for instance. Here's a photo of one which frequents my BIL's patio.

The deck sounds like a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. Watching birds and quendas must make it even more special. I can imagine how peaceful it feels just sitting there, and enjoying the nature. It is tough at times to get these little joys, especially in big cities. The big umbrella sounds useful, though I can see how it might be tricky on windy days. You may need strength at times to get the grip. Evenings out there with a quiet drink must be a lovely way to unwind. Unfortunately for me, I do not see an immediate time when I could enjoy such small luxuries. Well, enjoy these peaceful moments!

I just think it would be so nice and restful. And you are correct, I know the geese here (there are literally so many it's ridiculous) ignore me and just waddle on past...the only time they make an effort to hurry is if someone walks right behind them. And no one in their right mind is ever going to follow a goose, as they poop so much and no one wants walking in it! haha...I love taking a book to the patio in nice weather and just enjoying the weather.

It does look lovely... I wonder, if the umbrella was firmly attached, if you could sail over the valley while enjoying the view? It's something to think about, at least. You and Vince could have a meal and enjoy sailing around... you might have a bit of trouble getting the deck to land where it was before but the owners might enjoy it where ever it landed.

@JudyEv Oh, wow! I'm sure that was interesting.
There used to be a guy who lived a couple of houses down from us who had an ultralight helicopter that he'd use to fly around town. He'd take off from his driveway, fly to a store and bring back a jug of milk or a loaf of bread. That was the dumbest and most wasteful thing I ever saw.

That style or similar to it is very popular here.

It looks a bit industrial. But I imagine the view is pleasant and it is a peaceful place to be

That sounds so lovely! I'm sure there are some downsides to house sitting, but lots of it seem really wonderful.

@JudyEv It just sounds like such an adventure! I think the hardest part for me would not to be able to sleep in my own bed.

@1creekgirl It is fun but because nothing is yours, you worry about it more. Pets in particular.
