Can you see the small stone in the lower part of the photo?
Two days ago, Vince put that stone at the end of the growing tip of the pumpkin. We are waiting to see how much it grows over the time we’re here. There are other pumpkin plants here and one has several butternuts on it. There are also several pumpkins in the pantry.
What we call butternut pumpkins are called butternut squash in America. We’ve been given permission to eat one/several if we want. There are plenty of small tomatoes for the picking too. Unfortunately, the figs have finished.

Those plants grow fast. I grow butternuts too, and also an Italian variety called Marina di Chioggia which are our favourite, but the plants are absolute monsters and every morning in summer when I open the bedroom curtains it will have grown about another foot since the morning before!

Yes, I see the stone. Pumpkin and squash vines do grow really fast, as long as they enjoy the soil and they get plenty of water.
Mom always planted different kinds of squash as well as pumpkins. She loved eating them and always tried to get us to eat them, too. I didn't/don't like them. *shrug*
I hope you guys enjoy them.

@JudyEv I understand. I can eat a couple of bites of raw pumpkin if it's freshly cut from the pumpkin but that's all I can manage.

@DaddyEvil I haven't tried it raw. The clock is now saying 8.20pm and it's still evening. So keeping you informed.

@allknowing Yes, we quite often have pumpkin. Pumpkin soup is nice or we might bake it or have it mashed.

I don’t know that I’ve ever had butternut squash before. That needs to get growing quickly for your dinner!!

Sorry, I can't make out the stone, unless it's that yellowy thing that looks like a dried blossom.

We eat butternut squash often. I enjoy any squash or vegetables for that matter.
