March Madness (What don’t you (and I) understand?)

I think most of us associate March with the beginning of spring, and it certainly does bring about a weather change that is most welcome for the majority. But the United States has something going on in March I care NOTHING about: March Madness. Did you know this time of year doctors have a surge of vasectomies? Why? Because men get a few days off, and their recovery coincides with this 64 college basketball tournament. Most of these teams have players no one can name, but it is widely popular to bet on. I love sports, but I couldn’t care less about college basketball. Do you ever just not get why certain things are so popular?

So they have a “medical excuse” to stay home and watch the games. The bad thing is, they can only do that ONCE.

@DaddyEvil There is a retired football player who has 12 children, and that’s after three vasectomies!

I don't follow college basketball. One of my softball teammates in Indiana had played for the Indiana Hoosier in College basketball, but it was of much interest to me.

I was only told to take it easy for two days after I had surgery. My wife and I went to Silver Dollar City. I took off work on Friday and we spent the weekend afterward in Branson seeing shows. I was back at work on Monday. *shrug*

I’d rather use that time to go to Branson than catch the first few days of March Madness

@AmbiePam We actually did that in June or July. I remember going swimming in the hotel pool and it was outdoors.

I never have really been one to get into sports...but from what I know and understand...it's all bought and predetermined who will win.

I've never been a fan of most sports and glad Dale isn't either. We used to watch NASCAR, not so much now and Dale likes the golf channel.

I'm not a fan of March Madness and never really got into basketball. I just get annoyed when some of the games interfere with my tv shows

Haha, I totally get what you mean! It’s funny how some things catch on, even when they’re not everyone's cup of tea. March Madness is definitely one of those mysteries. It’s wild that it even impacts doctors' schedules! I’m with you—sometimes you just have to shake your head at certain trends.

Basketball is one sport I never got into. I used to cover Collegiate sports and some NFL football teams when I was doing freelance writing. I always cringed during basketball season because the articles were no fun to write even! Let alone having to watch the game for all the action.

I have a friend who is totally into March Madness, but she never mentioned vasectomy . Crazy what some people will do to get in their sports time!

One reason I do not college basketball is because I do not play the game for recreational purposes anymore and I prefer to play videogame of sports since I am in control of how I can play the game without breaking the unwritten rules not to run up scores in sports events that charge an arm and a leg to see at sports arenas.
