An empty cubby house

Every second or third day at our house-sit, we have to water the gardens. Most of it is reticulated so it’s a matter of switching valves on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. The whole process takes a bit over an hour. To one side of the garden is this cute cubby-house. The little girl who was no doubt thrilled with it is now doing 4th-year medicine so has long outgrown it. I’m sure she had a lot of fun in it when she was small. The temperature is going up and up, scheduled to hit 100F. We have the air-conditioner going and we’ve finished our outdoor jobs until later this evening when it cools down. I’m off for a nap. Edit: I forgot to add that the silvery tree in front of the cubby is a Silver Princess eucalyptus. It is very decorative with a lovely weeping habit and silvery bark. The flowers are a bright red.

That house is cute. I'm sure the girl had some fun time there. 100F is really hot. It's good that you can work in the evening.

Nice picture. It's really exciting being a little girl. I guess that girl really had a good time in that cute house.

You are really experiencing hot weather for your early autumn season. But it makes sense as we are experiencing a cold spring thus far. Soon I hope that things will warm for us and you as well, which I am sure you will find as a relief. The little house is cute. My husband built one for our son, which he just loved and spend countless hours in.

@JudyEv Yes, they have an outdoor kitchen as well as 2 little cottage playhouses-complete with working doorbells. They play in them quite a bit.

And now your son's little girls have an outdoor kitchen. Don't children grow up so quickly? It's scary in a way.

Hello Judy, still not ready to come back, but I am visiting some friends. This little house is cute and I love the eucalyptus tree.

That's a cute playhouse. I'm sure their daughter loved playing in it when she was little. I'm glad you don't need to be outside in the heat of the day. I hope you had a good nap.

Oh wow! The owner of that cute little house has already grown into a full-fledged young lady and is now studying medicine. That’s truly amazing! I can only imagine the many wonderful memories she must have from that little house—whether it was a place where she and her friends spent countless hours playing, sharing secrets, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Maybe it was even her special little nook, where she could escape into her own world, read books, dream big, or just enjoy the quiet. It’s incredible to think about how much she has grown, and I’m sure that little house holds so many cherished stories from her childhood!

@JudyEv And March is trying to hang on to winter here. We had that one warm (21°C/70°F) day last week but it quickly cooled off again.

It should be starting to get cooler but March is often just as hot as summer. Hopefully it will get cooler soon. Winter is supposed to be from June to August.

We had a slightly disturbing email from our son which sort of spoilt the nap. He looks like becoming homeless. We won't let that happen but it means changes and worry about what to do to ensure it doesn't happen.

It's cute, isn't it? There is a book here about the 'The Princesses and their dogs' featuring Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose. There are several photos of the little house given to Princess Elizabth for her 6th birthday by Wales. It's a tiny thatched cottage and very lovely.

May be when the daughter gets married and will have her own babies that cubby house will come to life. That colour combination silver and red must be stunning I cannot see the red flowers.

The tree is very popular in suburban gardens. It doesn't grow to a huge size which is in its favour.
