Early to bed, early to rise

"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise" Most know this idiom but looking around I hardly find anyone following this rule.
I believe in this I get to bed by 8.30 and am up between 4 and 5 in the morning.
I love my morning hours fresh to start the day after a good night's sleep
What is your belief?

I really wish I could do that too, but because of my work schedule, I’ve gotten used to sleeping late at night. It has become a habit over the years, and adjusting my body clock has always been a challenge.
However, once I fully transition into retirement, I’m hoping to change that. I’d love to develop the habit of sleeping early and waking up early as well. I think it would be a much healthier routine—allowing me to feel more refreshed, energized, and in sync with the natural rhythm of the day. After years of late nights due to work, it would be nice to finally embrace a more balanced and well-rested lifestyle.
Establishing a good sleep pattern is definitely something I want to work on. It’s one of those simple yet meaningful changes that can have a big impact on overall well-being. Hopefully, retirement will give me the opportunity to cultivate better habits and truly enjoy the benefits of a well-rested life.

@allknowing I’m definitely looking forward to it, especially now that the transition has already begun. I’m currently shifting from being a full-time working employee to fully embracing retirement in the near future. It’s a big change, and while I still have some responsibilities to wrap up, I can already feel the difference setting in.
Right now, I’m still in the process of turning things over and making sure everything is in place before I officially step away. But soon, I’ll be stepping into a new phase of life—one that’s free from the daily grind of work. It’s both exciting and a little surreal, but I know it’s a well-deserved change. Looking forward to seeing what’s ahead in this new chapter!

At the time this saying was coined there were no computers and no online ac tivityh that kept people awake late into the night
I fuilly agree with you the work sochedule will not let you follow that rule. After retirment that should be easy.

@rsa101 I gave up working early too while my husband waited till retirement.
I can feel your excitement eagerly waiting for that day when you can do what you want, when you want and how you want it done.
Good Luck

@allknowing I worked night for over 40 years and went to bed late and woke up early. It is just natural for me.

My mantra used to be - If I’m not in bed by 10pm, I’m going home.
