I Finally Gave Up

Sometimes weird things happen that just make no sense. Like my number pad on my computer suddenly going kaput one by one. Granted, I do a LOT of calculations on my computer researching stocks, accounting for the money, and whatever else requires numbers, of course. But still. Is it possible I actually wore it out? And how come it was never a problem before on any of my other old computers? It started with the ENTER key stopping working. Then it was followed by the decimal quitting. Shortly after that the 3 stopped working. Now, today, the 6 called it quits. Enough is enough. I need to be able to crunch numbers around here, so I decided to buy a wireless number pad off Amazon, and it should arrive tomorrow. It only set me back $9. But, I swear, why it is that weird crap always happens to me?

The wireless ones are very useful, but I wouldn’t put anyone off a wired version. You won’t need to charge it. I know the wireless ones harder ever need to be charged, but the wire isn’t a huge inconvenience

It is something I will have to consider the more I use it. If I start going through a lot of batteries, I may decide to make a switch.

@porwest I think a wireless mouse is a good investment, but I personally don’t find having this product wireless is beneficial to me personally

@Danielclark691 I have a wireless mouse now and have for years. I'd never go back to a wired one at this point.

@porwest Exactly. Had the same trouble with a pair of shoes. This morning I bought a new pair from a company I trusted -- they costed more, but the other company made trash!

No, they sure don't, do they? I guess they figure they can't make any money if stuff lasts.

Do any laptops have the number pad or is it only PCs? Would be great to have one on a laptop. Are you sure yours is totally kaput?

@lovebuglena Dell, and I have to say it's my third Dell and all of them have not lasted nearly as long as I'd like. Thinking the next one may not be a Dell.

My laptop has a number pad, and almost all the ones I have had also had one. Mine on my laptop has become unusable.

I hope you like the wireless number pad. I hate wireless stuff because I had to change the batteries so often. That gets expensive too.

The battery thing WILL be something to watch. If I find I am going through a lot of batteries, I'll switch to a wired one.

It doesn't...it just feels like it only happens to you!! We have our share of weird here for sure! Glad you got a new one on the way!

They sure don't make things like they use to make them. Everything seems to be made to be throw away. Hopefully things will change with more things being made in America than other countries.

I tend to be very hard on my keyboards and it's not uncmmon for them to break on me. As of late, my apple keyboards have been kind to me, albit a bitmessy looking on some of the keys. Since you use the number pad (you must have an extended keyboard), it stands to reason that you were just harder on it than you realized.

Replace that keyboard. I had been doing that even through my keyboard is still working. I just want to preserve that keyboard so that I can use it when I am outside.

Right now the rest of the keyboard works just fine. It's just the number pad that's not working properly.
