A dusty car and going out for morning tea

Can you see the red dust on our friend's pale pink Toyota Yaris? We're house-sitting at the end of a dirt road and the shape of her car seems to pull the dust.
Our friend has been with us for four days and it’s been good to spend time with her. Today we’re going to visit one of our old Donnybrook acquaintances so we’re looking forward to that. This lady has a range of health issues but loves to cook. Mostly she can’t eat any of what she makes but that doesn’t stop her turning out the most wonderful dishes.
She also has a file full of her recipes and insists on giving you copies of recipes that you show the slightest interest in. Such a generous and happy soul. It will be good to see her again.

I love that house sitting device that you have in your country.

@JudyEv It is wonderful. The only thing we have here are those B and B or whatever they are called. But you have to pay.

@marguicha Some people will pay you to house-sit. It depends how much you have to do. On a farm you might have to check water-troughs, mobs of sheep, etc. We're too old for that and only do ones that don't involve too much physical work. And we mostly do it for friends or friends of friends.

I hope you have a good visit with your friend.
We used to live down a dirt road and our cars looked just like that. In my part of the US, we have red clay and it coats everything that gets close to it. (When I made flowerbeds, I had to dig out a large area of clay and then pour in potting soil, a little sand and sphagnum moss to help keep the soil moist between rains so the plants/flower grew well. It was a lot of work but the end results were well worth the labor.)

For a few years I had a car that didn't have air conditioning and the back seat was always covered in dust from the windows being down. People hated riding back there.

@DaddyEvil No A/C was the norm when I was young. Our school bus used to fill up with dust on the gravel roads.

@rakski With this one the power went off and then we lost internet for a day or two Another one some sheep got out and we had to get them back into their paddock. In another one, a hose in a bathroom burst. If we hadn't been there the house would have flooded. I don't really relax until something has gone wrong.

Everything is fine but she could have at least dusted her car before going to take tea in it. It looks really dirty.

We had to drive on a dusty road to and from the house/town so it's always going to be dusty. When she gets back to Perth and is driving on sealed roads, then she'll wash it. There is no point until then.

I'm sorry your friend is ill; but she sounds like a wonderful person to spend time with.

She won't wash the car till she gets back to Perth. There would be no point in washing it while she was staying here.

It’s so sad to have a love of food and cooking but not be able to eat it. What a sweet soul she is to share, even if she can’t partake in a lot of it.
Most cars that look like that around here will inevitably get “wash me” written into the dirt/dust.

Some cars just seem to attract dirt.
Enjoy the visit

Red dust is nasty stuff, and I hope it doesn't come inside the house too, at times, as it would be hard to clean there too. Old friends are often the best friends.
