Tommy Smothers died in 2023, but his memory lives on in the yo-yo weather we’re having. Shirt sleeves yesterday, hoodie with a jacket over it today. I skipped everything with my allergist yesterday by replying when he asked me how I was, “Same as everyone else in the Ohio Valley right now.” Here’s another song that’s celebrating its 65th birthday this year, along with me. Poetry in Motion - Johnny Tillotson Johnny Tillotson died last week. He was 86. This, and “It Keeps Right on a-Hurtin’,” were his biggest hits. Where do we categorize Tillotson? It’s hard to say. This really leans more toward the rock and roll of the time, but “It Keeps Right on a-Hurtin’” was pretty darn country. In fact, it was covered a number of times in country music. This is a cool song, fun and innocent and reflective of those times. We’ll miss you, Johnny. Poetry in Motion Written by Mike Anthony and Paul Kaufman Recorded by Johnny Tillotson Released as a single, 1960 When I see my baby:

I loved Poetry in motion. And sung it until my voice was no more.

I never could “sing,” but I yelp and warble along.

@FourWalls I did not exactly sing. But I was wonderful at singing while showering, specially if I was alone.

I know the song well, but I couldn’t have named the singer if you’d asked me. Sad to hear he just recently passed away.

That’s what I’m here for. Now, when you win a trivia game for knowing his name you owe me!

I’m glad you’ve heard it played. So many of the oldies have been totally forgotten.

@FourWalls A lot of radio stations today only play music from the 1970s to today' music.

There was a time when I knew Simon Crum’s parody “Enormity in Motion” better than the original.
