Irish rain.

My garden looks like it’s smiling in at me as I watch it from the kitchen window. That’s because just after lunch time it saw rain for the first time in over 2 weeks. And it wasn’t just a warm spot of rain, it was a prolonged episode, good growing rain, plentiful enough but not torrential so my seedlings didn’t get washed away. And the garden’s looking good now, refreshed. The flowering cherry is about to come into its own and it should hold its bloom till just before we go on holiday in May. It’s also be great drying the clothes outside instead of having to resort to an expensive to run dryer.

It has been surprisingly dry here the past few weeks as well! I love the smell of things growing after rain.

Cherry blossom is a wonderful sight. We’ve also had very little rain recently here in the N-E of England. There was a slight sprinkling over-night, but not enough to satisfy the gardens. There is more forecast for the week ahead, but no heavy downfalls, which are needed for the gardens, and also the reservoirs.

There is nothing like a shower of rain to freshen up a garden and kick-start the growing.
