Water Woes

I shall shorten the details or this post would be too long. Our trip up to West Virginia was one water crisis after the other. When we arrived at our home we discovered that the water company hadn’t turned our water on. I had received an email two days earlier that they had turned it on. I called them and they said they would dispatch someone to us. At 10 that night they still hadn’t come. Thank God we had baby wipes and bottled water and washed up as best as we could. I started calling early the next day. Around 5 pm they came. Our water pressure was low. They did something temporary and then the real fun began. We had a busted pipe and one that just detached where it was connected. Another night of baby wipes and bottled water, unflushed toilets and eating out. We got them fixed the next day. My husband filled the hot water heater up , but after many attempts to light it decided it was time for a new one. It was a 1988 model. By this time we were exhausted, feeling a bit grimy and decided to call a plumber. My husband removed the old water heater and we let the plumber install a new one. That night we had the best feeling hot shower ever. In the end the water company had to put in a new water meter. The old one had been there longer than I’ve been around. We can only guess that the meter had appeared to be on when they first came out, but something was malfunctioning below the surface. Still in the end we loved being in our home and were sad to leave. Hopefully our next trip will be uneventful. Oh, almost forgot that it rained cats and dogs more days than not and was really cold.

Get used to stuff like that if you are going to live in WVA. So glad everything got fixed though .even if you had to spend a few dollars

Mississippi definitely has its challenges too. We prefer West Virginia.

There is an old saying 'these things are sent to try us'. That seems to be the case with your problems with the water. Hopefully you'll have no more trouble with it now.

That can be terrible to be without running water. Thankfully it's fixed and hope that it's fixed for good and you will have no more issues..i can understand how precious that hot shower would be

After selling my house in Latvia that was how it was bought with no water. During the winter the water pipes burst and I could not get it all fixed so I bought water to drink and my stepdaughter supplied me with water and did my laundry.
