Do you take naps?

On the weekends, it seems as if all I want to do is take an afternoon nap. I don't know if it is because I'm just exhausted from the week, and am playing catch-up, or because I don't sleep that well at night, or is it my age? My husband can fall asleep watching tv and I can fall asleep while listening and watching country music videos. What do you think?

I go to bed at 11.30 p.m. and I get up at 5.30 a.m. After busy work at office, I come home for lunch and I take 30 minutes to 45 minutes nap. That will help me to be active for the rest of the day to carry out my work with uniform speed. If I miss the nap, then the work speed gets cutdown.

You reminded me of a time about 10 years ago when we got in a money bind. I was working a 40 hour job and so was my husband, but his job rotated shift times. So, for 9 months, I took a 2nd job delivering pizzas in the evenings. I would leave my main job, go home to catch a quick 30-45 min. nap, wash up and change and head out to deliver pizzas. I wouldn't recommend it for very long, but it helped us get out of our big money problem and I didn't have to do it forever!

I don't take naps per se but lately I have fallen asleep watching TV which grips the beejeezus out of me. Of course, it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm on the puter until the wee wee hours of the morning and only get about 4 hours of sleep. At my age I should probably get more sleep and naps might fill in the gap but sleeping is "against my religion".....I feel it is a waste of time and if I kept by the rules I would sleep one third of my life away. And since at my age its all down hill from here I'm gonna keep going until the hitch in my getalong is gone.

Relatives just left this morning really early after the holidays. I slept 6 or 7 hours, got up and had breakfast and promptly fell asleep sitting up watching/listening to the tv! I guess it was extra tiresome all of the extra hustle and bustle and extra comings and goings and extra people in the house! That's my excuse, anyway! LOL

I don't usually take naps during the day so when I occasionally do, I know that I'm getting the flu or something like that. I think it's your bodies way of telling you to slow down. My husband can fall asleep at the drop of a hat also so maybe that is a male thing...

It could just be our age. My husband and I both end up taking naps on our days off. LOL! We live an exciting life!

My husband has to get up at 3:15 to go to work at 4a.m. He opens the store at 5a.m. So, when he gets off work at 12-1p.m. and lays on the bed watching t.v., he always dozes off for a nap! And my sunday off always has a nap in the middle!

Usually I take a nap whenever I feel like I need a little sleep or when I am really exhausted. As of late I've been finding myself taking more naps because I tend to be up late and then I'll go to sleep late as well. I'll wake up kind of early and as the day goes on I'll find that I'll need a nap for a short period of time just to give me a boost or re-energize myself. There are some days I don't take a nap and then the next day I'll definitely need one to get me caught up and help keep me alert.
I don't think age would be a factor on whether or not someone needs to take a nap...I think the only factor that should really come into play is how tired a person is during the day. If you feel you need to take a nap I think it's a great idea to take one, even if it's just for a half an hour. I've found even a nap that short will help to make me feel better.
There are other times though where I'll have a nap and it actually won't help me at all. It will in reality make me more tired when I wake up from it. I don't like it when this happens because I feel like I wasted however long taking a nap to feel worse than I did when I began the nap. I don't really find myself falling asleep during any particular television program at all...I just seem to fall asleep in front of the t.v. when I'm past the point of being able to keep my eyes open or sometimes I've gone through a day without a nap.
I always find that sooner or later during the day I will sometimes need to just escape from everyday life and have a nap and try to dream some of the stress I'm under away. There are times where I've been napping and my other half has been my wake up call because I've been so exhausted at times I've slept until he's come home from work.
In reality I don't find myself taking a lot of naps. The only time I'll really need to take one is when I'm completely exhausted and I need to catch up on some sleep. I find I usually need to take one when I'm up really late and I don't end up going to bed until my other half leaves for work in the morning. When I get up sometimes it's earlier in the day than I should be up. Those are the days that I will most likely need to take a nap because I know that later in the day I will feel exhausted.
In conclusion, I think naps are a good thing to do when you are feeling completely exhausted and need a couple hours to make yourself more alert. Sometimes though I find they work against you and that's why I will only take one if I absolutely need one.
Thanks for allowing me to share! xx
