I used to enjoy reading novels, but now I feel like reading fiction is a waste of time like most TV is. My nose isn't always buried in academic tomes or anything, but I find that a lot of social and cultural anthropology oriented books are interesting. One of my favourite authors is Oliver Sacks, who is a neurologist. He writes about his practice, but it's not dry at all -- everything he writes is funny and engaging, and I feel like it's much more worthwhile reading than a lot of novels. That said, I'll always have a soft spot for Irvine Welsh and Gabriel Garcia Marquez!

I was one of those children who never read books at all. I read my first when I was 21 and now I read about two to three a week depending on the book.
