Fatigue

United States
December 4, 2006 3:10pm CST
I'm finding difficulty in just living right now. I'm not depressed or sad, just stressed and exhausted half the time. It's difficult to get out of bed. When I have enough energy to move I am in pain constantly. I have a wonderful husband and two year old and am quite happy with my religious beliefs, etc. as far as life affirming stuff goes, I just can't get past the limitations my body places on me.

Sounds like you might be anemic (not enough iron in your diet). You can go to your doctor and have them run some tests to find out for sure, but most American women are anemic. I found that taking a whole food supplement really helps me with my enery level.

i was going to suggest this as well! i know that its very easy (due to diet and stress, etc) for someone to get anemic without even realizing it. i have been anemic before and have almost the same symptoms as you described!

When I was pregnant I had anemia, and this feels even more tired than that was. I'm going to the doctor today to figure out how to treat the bronchitis and sinusitis that keep recurring. I take a multi-vitamin every day already. Hopefully we'll be able to get this all sorted out.

Have you been to a doctor yet? You may have something like fibromyalgia, or chronic fatigue syndrome just to rattle off a few things. I knew a few people with fibromyalgia, it's very painful for them. If you haven't, go to the dr. and get checked out. Make sure they do blood work also. And don't let them just label you as "depression" especially with constant pain without other tests-usually they'll do that because you're younger. Though stress can cause lots of symptoms, including pain. Good luck and hope you feel better!!! http://www.arthritis.org/conditions/DiseaseCenter/Fibromyalgia/fibromyalgia_symptoms.asp http://www.arthritis.org/resources/news/news_fibro_cfs.asp

I agree with the above 2 answers as well, I've had anemia before, makes you very very sleepy and run down. Also dizzy and lightheaded. The only thing though, they didn't cause pain.

The pain is from my XLH http://www.xlhnetwork.org/site/Welcome.html which I've had all my life. The extreme fatigue is recent though. Hopefully the doctor can figure it out today.

All you need to do is a complete rest. Have a vacation and take time to relax.

Make sure you are taking care of yourself: eating right and exercising. Also, treat yourself, make time for some things that you enjoy (special activities, etc.). If constant pain is an issue, talk to your doctor.

It sounds like you may need good nutrition to start with. Watch what you eat and do not eat sweets at all. Take at least 1/2 hour walk every day. Make sure to smlie first thing after you awake each morning.

Thank you for the advice. I should adjust my diet to more green. As far as exercising goes, chasing my 2-year-old is almost beyond my limitations at this point let alone voluntarily walking.

I've put you on my prayer list. Maybe you are being spiritually persecuted by the fallen angels, which of course makes all things worse, and prevents healing, large or small.. and the incoming of new life/the spirit. I myself have been spiritually persecuted many times. I do believe that God always rescues us. (On my prayer list)

Sounds like you need to see a Dr, and get some Help for this. It could be Anemia as others have suggested, or it could be a number of things. Might be good to see what is causing the Tiredness and exhaustion, and what is causing the pain. Maybe be Tested for MS, or Arthritis, etc. Also since you are a beleiver in God, find someone in your Church if you attend one to Pray over you. Prayer can do a lot for a person when they are not feeling well either. I know it helps me. I am wishing you the best, and hope you can find out what is going on.

I'll be having a full panel of tests done next week. Thanks for the thought with the prayer thing, but I don't attend a church regularly nor do I necessarily believe in the Christian god (well, as the only deity anyway) so the finding someone to pray thing is pretty much out. Thanks for the kind thoughts though!

I would say that their might be an imbalance in your system somewhere. It's not natural for a young person to feel this way. Please see your doctor and at least see what he has to say. It sounds a lot like depression to me, but there could be other physical reasons for you feeling like you do. It never hurts to go check it out.

I know I have a thyroid disease but supposedly it was inactive. After days like today though, I have to wonder.

i was also thinking maybe chronic fatigue or low iron or even B vitamins.....definately worth going to your doctor and getting checked out. as for the pain i dont know where it is so cant even suggest what it might be... dont be afraid to get a second opinion from a different doctor either...but make sure you go soon so that you may get something to relieve your symptoms

hey have you ever heard of yoga.. these are exercises that would certainly relive you of the fatigue you are feeling now.. they generally refresh your body to handle all sort of pressures.. so get in tough with a yoga guru and get going.. you could also visit this website www.artofliving.org.. good luck

Wow! That sounds like some serious stuff. If the fatigue continues too much longer (and the sleeping pills don't help) then I might see what the doc thinks about some of those ideas.

Hey there..I went through something similar about 3 years ago..my 4th child was about 5 months old..and I could barely function due to the fatigue..got lotsa sleep ate right all that stuff..went to see the doc..he ran some simple blood tests..turned out I had a thyroid condition..not serious..he put me on some medication to regulate it..after about a week I felt great! Sometimes during a cold..pregnacy or any other type of stress to the body your thyroid can become inflamed and have trouble producing the proper amounts of hormones..by the way your thyroid is a butterfly shaped organ located kinda in the hollow of your neck..Go see your doc you never know

Since I'm not depressed (actually in quite a good mood) just TIRED to the extreme, I really don't think freshening myself up will help much. But thank you for the thought.

i believe you are low on iron diet. you should drink plenty of water and stop those cokes. start a healthy diet with fresh fruits and vegetables.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Just last night, I didn't get to bed until 2am and even then I kept waking up all night. I think it is a mom thing with me. I am such a care giver and am all about taking care of my son and husband constantly. Whether I am sick, tired, exhausted, whatever, I am up doing something for one of them. Therefore, my mind is always racing about things I need to do for them which causes me to be up all night.

Completely true, even when I get the chance to lay down early, I am thinking about all the things that need to get done and listening for my son and husband in case they need anything.

Ew, that means I'll have to give up my bacon-cheeseburgers though, doesn't it? Ah, well, I know my BP is good and low and my cholesterol is only off-balance not too high. Thanks for the thought though. I'm being monitored by a cardiologist for a few heart-diseases (none of which should cause fatigue like this).
