Pretending to be interested in something you're not...

... just to make somebody else happy, or impress someone? Would you/ do you do it? Is it right or wrong? Shouldn't someone like you for who you are? Shouldn't you like yourself enough to be comfortable with who you are. Theres that old saying that comes to mind "You have to love yourself before you can love anyone else."

I would love to do that. but some how I am not able to do it and it has decreased my popularity among my colleagues. I am a very straight forward person.

I guess if you're trying to impress someone then it's wrong as you are giving them the impression you are someone you're not. If it's to keep someone happy like your parents or friend then I don't think it matters.

I do it alot just to be nice to people that I know I'm never going to see again. But, I wouldn't do it with someone that I want to have something with.

No, I don't. I have no problem giving company and I don't complain or crib.

pretending to be interested in something you are not is really hard, if it comes to meetings or presentation and you pretend to listen, it show that you are not interested and people will just get offended. when it comes to discussion, and people talk about topics you pretend to be interested in and know nothing about it, you are just making a fool out of yourself.

heart - heart
Well, I pretend to be interested in stuff that my husband likes. I believe that he knows that I hate the sports or whatever it is but, it is just nice for him to have me there with him. I guess! I know that there are things that I like that he doesn't, but he is there with me when I do them or whatever.

I am a firm believer that you first have to love yourself before you can love other people. Well I wont say I love myself persay. I am comfortable with myself. That is what I dont understand you should like someone for being themself. Idont think you should pretend to like someone when you really dont.
