what do you think about abortion.

An abortion is the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. This can occur spontaneously as a miscarriage, or be artificially induced by chemical, surgical or other means. Commonly, "abortion" refers to an induced procedure at any point during pregnancy; medically, it is defined as miscarriage or induced termination before twenty weeks' gestation, which is considered nonviable. Throughout history abortion has been induced by various methods. The moral and legal aspects of abortion are subject to intense debate in many places. What do you say??

Depends how do u relate to God.If u fear God and Love him obeying Him,and consider kids as a divine gift ,u will not kill a human being. If u consider God not,u have all the rights on your hand to do it and find all kind of excuse for this

I think that abortion is murdering an unborn baby. Since people are not allowed to murder then why should they be allowed to murder a baby? As a Christian myself I find it difficult to know how to address other issues around abortion. If a person is raped it is not their fault and I can understand in certain instances why a person might chose to abort their child. I know that no matter what I couldn't abort a child and if it were up to me I would rather have that child adopted than aborted. I couldn't live with myself if I knew I had aborted an unborn child.

Obviously this topic is a very controversial one. It has also been debated for many years and will be for many more, while procreation continues! While I appreciate the fact that you "think" that you could never do this, how do you know for sure, unless you have been in that situation yourself. To call it "murder" is something that I find very strong and dislike immensely. I am a Healthcare professional and a mother (I have never had an abortion). I do believe in a person being allowed to make choices with regards to their own health. Whether it be a man or a woman. Many people with cancer opt out of chemotherapy and radiation as they would prefer a better quality of life for the the time they have left rather than the quantity of life. There are people who for religious reasons opt out of having life saving blood transfusions. Would you say that these people are actively killing someone? Themselves? If a pregnancy occurs for whatever reason and that child will not be brought up in a loving home, or a financially stable one(not wealthy) then in my mind, it is far better to terminate the pregnancy before the fusion of sperm and egg forms a thinking, human mind.

im a mom,a christian and a professional,i read all your comments here and you guys have all your reasons and points, the pros and cons, private and very delicate subject ,especially to those who are victims of abortion, the murderer the ..legally,i respect the authority and the law... and i also respect above all the law of God....abortion is equal to murder or killing an innocent life...so, whatever your conscience is telling you right now that could be the right thing to do,the motives and intentions should be consider here,as a human,as amother biologically ,we have no right to kill somebody who is innocent and do nothing wrong to us ...ask God for wisdom before doing any thing either good or bad.....

I believe that a woman has right to choose whether or not she will bear a child in the first trimester. I however was raped Christmas Eve of 1995 I got pregnant from it, had my son and put him up for adoption. I just feel that when I stand before God in the end I do not want to have that stain upon my soul of murdering a life he gifted me with. By the same token as soon as I had my son I got my tubes tied so that I couldn't have any more children so I guess that is an abortive pre emptive strike huh.

mother's cant kill their own child, that's why they are called MOTHER's, they are the women of society who have fear that they think they cant handle such responsibility, in the first place, why did she commit making love with another guy if he doesnt want to be pregnant.

an abortion is justified if the circumstances and the situation support it. as far as the moral and the legal aspects are concerned these are usually Very rigid and do not take into account the individual situation. the decision has also been made about the future of the child if he comes into the world how will he be supported who's going to take care of the child and the like kind of things

I think it is a woman's choice period. It is not something I have ever had to deal with personally, but I feel strongly that all women should have the ability to access safe medical procedures if they should choose to.

There have been a lot of comments in this thread about how abortion should only be available in the first trimester. I agree that the closer and closer the fetus gets to awareness or the ability to feel pain, the more and more uncomfortable I am with it. However, I think it's important not to vote for laws like "partial birth abortion bans" without being aware of WHY people seek abortion in the second trimester. In the first place, abortion is only available for medical reasons (except in extremely rare circumstances - like when women have been held up in local court systems by judges trying to make first trimester abortion ilegal). You simply can't walk into a clinic during the second trimester and have a healthy fetus aborted, unless you can find a corrupt doctor. Secondly, although it's easy for someone to toss out the idea that down's syndrome children can lead fulfilling lives, many other types of birth defects can have horrendous outcomes for fetuses. In tay sachs or hydrocephalus the outcomes are pretty horrible. Its worth researching these conditions and considering how you would feel about your own child suffering from such complications, before wanting 2nd trimester abortion stopped. With hydrocephalus the fetus' head is filled with fluid, which can make normal delivery impossible for women. I think only the parents are in the right situation to know how much they can handle. If they are strongly pro-life, maybe they will be able to cope with the experience of having a baby born that will live in a great deal of pain, before dying a few weeks later. If they do not have such views, I think it's asking too much of them to have the legal system oblige them to carry through with the pregnancy, especially when we, the general public, are not affected by their choice whatever it is.

I would never do it myself. I couldn't live with myself if I did. I don't look down upon others who make that decision though.

"It really feels bad when someone aborts" - do you have personal experience of this? You feel there are absolutely no exceptions for abortion? What about cases where contraceptive failed, where a woman was raped, or where having the baby could cause medical problems for the mother? Are these not valid reasons not to go through with an unwanted pregnancy?

I have had an abortion. I am glad in many ways that I did. My life would be a mess if I hadn't. I mourn the loss of my child but know that I will meet them one day and that they forgive me for the decision I had to make. I know it was the right decision. I didn't make the decision lightly and I went through a long depression afterwards that almost claimed me. I was only just under 6 weeks pregnant when I had the abortion, any longer and I may not have been able to do it. It didn't have a hert beat which occurs at 6 weeks. I think if I had have found out there was a heart beat I may have felt differntly. When I came out my boyfriend at the time said that there was a young girl with her Mum sitting next to him. Seh had been raped and was 15. She was terrified of the procedure. When I came out of the rooms to collect my things I apprently had a smile. He said it was the best thing I could have done. The girl cried with relief that I was okay and that she would be okay too.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Never having had to go through this myself, I don't have any first hand knowledge of what it would be like. It was very interesting to read how you felt, and I can imagine many other women would feel the same way. It was heartbreaking to about the 15 year old girl, and I think it is the best example pro-choice advocates can use. It is disgusting that people have to go through that, and they should be given the option to not have a child that would constantly remind them of their pain.

I do not agree with abortion. If people think abortion is ok, then they should also think that contraceptives are ok. If they do not want a baby then they shouldn't become pregnant. I saw my two tiny granchildren when they were born at only twenty weeks gestation and they were perfectly formed little babies. After that, I could never agree to people having abortions.

From the time the act is done the child starts growing whether is recognisable or not.
• Canada
9 Dec 06
It is true that something is growing, but if it has no heartbeat, no recognisable features, no thoughts, no feelings (no central nervous system), is it a person? In my opinion, no. It has no consciousness, no awareness of anything, nothing of what makes people, people. Therefore it is not yet a person. The health and well-being of the mother should come first at this point.

There is a huge difference between having an abortion at 20 weeks (5 months) and 6 weeks (1.5 months). Before a certain point we are still talking about a fetus that is barely recognisable as human. Before something has a heartbeat, can it really be considered to be alive?

I HAD MISCARRIAGES 3 TIMES AND I CAN FEEL THE PAIN A MOTHER FEELS AFTER GETTING HER BABY FEEL IN HERSELF SO I THINK ITS VERY UNHUMMAN ACT TO MAKE A ABORTION DONE TO KEEP YOURSELF OFF FROM WHATEVER MATTER YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE A ABORTION . SO GUYS MAKING ABORTION DONE BY OURSELF IS JUST LIKE KILLING A LIFE. SO NEVER DO IT INDEED TAKE SOME PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID GETTING YOURSELF PREGNANT.

To all you people out there that have ever done this, should you be condemned to a nice warm spot in hell Month One I am only 8 inches long but I have all my organs. I love the sound of your voice. Every time I hear it I wave my arms and legs. The sound of your heart beat is my favorite lullaby. Month Two Mommy today I learned how to suck my thumb. If you could see me you could definitely tell that I am a baby. I'm not big enough to survive outside my home though. It is so nice and warm in here. Month Three You know what Mommy I'm a boy!! I hope that makes you happy. I always want you to be happy. I don't like it when you cry. You sound so sad. It makes me sad too and I cry with you even though you can't hear me. Month Four Mommy my hair is starting to grow. It is very short and fine but I will have a lot of it. I spend a lot of my time exercising. I can turn my head and curl my fingers and toes and stretch my arms and legs. I am becoming quite good at it too. Month Five You went to the doctor today. Mommy, he lied to you. He said that I'm not a baby. I am a baby Mommy, your baby. I think and feel. Mommy, what's abortion? Month Six I can hear that doctor again. I don't like him. He seems cold and heartless. Something is intruding my home. The doctor called it a needle. Mommy what is it? It burns! Please make him stop! I can't get away from it! Mommy! HELP me! Month Seven Mommy I am okay. I am in Jesus's arms. He is holding me. He told me about abortion. Why didn't you want me Mommy? Every Abortion Is Just . . . One more heart that was stopped. Two more eyes that will never see. Two more hands that will never touch. Two more legs that will never run. One more mouth that will never speak. If you're against abortion, post this as... I don't care if I lose friends over this

Induced abortion is killing a person. From the moment of conception, the first instance when a person receives his genetic material, he should be considered as such, a person. He has the innate ability to develop as such. That one-celled organism is alive and will develop into a human being with all the pre-determined potentials of someone just like you or me.

I don't support for this. I always believe that this is killing somebody. I has to be completely banned. Unless there must be a need to do this.
