sometimes its really painful to respond to the same kind of discussions..and thats one of the main resons why I don't participate quite often..people have to realize that a similar discussion is already floating around and there would be no gain in starting a similar thing..so lets just brainstorm and find out some ways by which we can improve mylot..

WEll, there is no way around having multiple topics floating around. And it really doesn matter since Mylot serves worldwide and we are all on different time zones. To date there are over 40,000 members and I don't think it is a bad thing to have several threads under the same topic. It does get a little annoying whne they all appear at the same time though. That is a great opportunity to start a good discussion of your own!

i am not saying its bad to have several threads under the same subject..but the point is very tedious to navigate between topics..u end up finding the same topics again and again under different heads..

Oh, I understand you completely. But at the same you can post your opinion multiple times and get your point across more than once!! Do you prefer to respond to other's topics or write your own?

There has to be a way to find out that you are posting a repeat. I know that there is a search available but sometimes you come with a good idea and just want to post without checking. I feel everyone should be given benefit of doubt and post reponse on there discussion that sorry buddy the topic is already been started. No one should post on those topic afterwards. Once that happen that guy would check twice before starting new topic.

I think what would be Helpful, is once we have posted a Response to a topic, they need to make it to where somehow we can never post here again unless it is a Topic we have started. This is just my thoughts on this. I know other sites that do something simular to this.

thats could be one of the things that could be done...the same thing could be applied when someone is starting a new discussion..i agree that some people might feel its wrong to stop them..but then there could be an option of merging two similar discussions..

It would be good if there was some way to automatically group these similar discussions, so that all similar ones came up together and you could just choose the one you wanted to answer. I know this sort of happens with the tagging system but it could be more ecomplex than that. Headings could come up rather than the actual discussions.

thats even what i think could be one of the basic solutions which could be implemented..i think if the user is given an option to select and group with the existing discussion and then suitably share the earnings..

tags are a useful way to organize ur responses and discussions..howver the system here is that u can put in any words of ur choice and that makes the whole objective of tagging a bit ineffective..

I am still trying to figure out a way to get tags, so don't mind me for just writing any old thing...

there's no denying the fact that as a concept mylot is fantastic and the fact that so many people are joing only justifies that point..however we should not just think short term and be satisfied with something which is good the efforts should be to continuosly work and improve the existing structure..ans with time u would realise it..have fun..

The site need to categorize the discussion forums from different subtopic of interests. Like their is a specific category for games, music, entertainment, business, news, politics, religions, gadgets, computers, health, leisure, lifestyle, and etc. This will make the site more easy to navigate without having difficulty of finding the topics which will suit your interest.

they have categories but people here hardly follow it..people would normally start general discussion like "which is better coke or pepsi"..i am tired of such things..and not just one i saw five same topics today..

i can understand..some people just for the sake of it.start discussions which have their regional terms..now thats out of sync with this place and I make it a point to tell them that when I do decide to respond to such discussions..

Yes, it's so annoying when these silly questions like "coke or pepsi" get 100 responses and genuine discussions about quality topics just get a handful of responses.
I think for myLot to improve, the type of people joining has to be screened to be able to get some sort of 'quality' in place. For goodness sake, keep the people who don't even speak english out of this community. Its because they cannot post a decent reply in english that they resort to copy and paste and also one word answers that don't even answer the questions in the first place.

thats one of the ways by which they can help avoid duplicacy..and may be it would also help to skip topics and find something new to respond to..

Well to improve mylot is a good question, but its not so easy.
I ve suggestion like asking people while signing in to sign their area of interest and can only post response to those areas.
While people are posting discussion they can select categories and categorize it accordingly instead of tagging.
This could bring more meaningful discussion and u need not hang around the same set of discussion

well thats not a bad suggestion at all..i am sure would be willing to spend another 2 minutes to submit their areas of interest at the time of signing up and that could be taken forward..we can have email alerts telling the person about the start of a new discussion under his/her areas of interest and similar things to encourage active participation..

well i think to be honest and first we need to stop spamming, and always give a postive and understood answer whihch will be easy to understand gfor everyone i think this will make mylot more improve and we need to resolve each and every problem here and do work here with peace and be helpful i think this will be a godd thing adn i think mylot staff need to give us more benefits which they are giveng day by day ...and i love mylot...

i think u said it well..we need to responsible enough to understand that mylot is not just a mechanical board on which u can write anything..its a way by which one can help others..and that spirit should be promoted..there should be way by which a person who started the discussion could rate the response meaningful and that should be used to determine the earnings..

as i have said earlier its is the basic issue which one needs to keep in mind..hopefully people would realise it soon enough..

It is better not to help one , unless they want our help.
A feelings which is painfull to you, is very good feelings
for rest.
If some writings gives painfull feelings, you have 2 options
1. Do not read those writtings
2. Disable or warn members_id/discussions based on your rules and regulations, and on your own interpretation of them.
It is upto you.
Thanks

its true thats people might find some of the responses not to their taste..but that doesn't mean that they don't want us to respond..they have posted their discussions that clearly shows they need help..the other thing is just reading something wouldn't just make someone upset as he/she can simply overlook it..

There should be e-mail notifications, possibly by keywords, that would allow people to follow their favorite topics.
I like the site, but I cannot be on it every single minute, and having one discussion page means I'm missing 99% of the new discussions that open.

thats sounds really practicle.and it can be done..similar to the concept like the prferences form we sometimes fill while registering..we can submit our choices and there could be email alerts when a topic under that preference is started..

thats the first step..and for that every one of us have to ensure that we are committed to this cause and ensure that we report everything that we believe is spam..

Somehow the discussions need to be resorted so that you can easily see what similar discussions have been started.
Maybe alphabetically listed would be easier.
It is quite hard to navigate and find interesting topics to respond to or to find something new to start.

the basic issue would be that there would have to be several layers of sorting which would be attractive if its made user friendly..for instance discussions on sports and then under that soccer, tennis and so on..

thats a really good suggestion..people could manage their own communities and in a community u could have topics which are of relevanace..with time the members would increase and so would the number of discussions..

thats ok..but don't u think it would be more fun if u find topics which would be more appealing to u and thats why u feel to participate more..
