Hello to all! Hope your day, evening or whatever time of day it is for you is going well. I am gathering up my candy recipes so I can make a list of what I will need to get at the grocery store today. This weekend is our family gathering. The gifts I am making for my family will be homemade candy, cookies and breads. I also make a family calendar that posts all of our birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
As I go through the recipe files I am posting the candy recipes that I will be making this week. I hope you have a chance to check them out and print them out for your own use.
For many candy making is something that many have never done. I started making candy in my youth. It is something that I love to do. Using a candy thermometer is key to successful candy making. If you have never made homemade candy before, now is the time to do it. Check out the recipes and give one of them a try. Let me know what you made and how it came out.
Huggers! : )

Hopefully they will work the site bugs out tomorrow so we can all see the missing front page.
I have made some candy in my life including fudge, melt and pour types of candies made in molds, etc. But lately I'm trying to cut way down on my sweets before I get some major health problems. And I'd rather give up candy than resort to artificial sweeteners. I may have to get stevia a try though.
Your family is lucky to have you.

Hey there Elusive. I love this post, but I can't see the first page. It didn't come up at all. I wonder if myLot is still having problems with posting links. I would really love to see some of the recipes. When I get back from vacation, the 17th, I will start making mine. I hope your day is going lovely and that you are getting everything done. Oh, by the way, should I send my address for some of your homemade goodies, lol.

I have never made penuche. One of my fondest childhood memories were having my mother's penuche. One day we went to my aunt's house to visit, she had just made penuche. She gave a hollar that it was ready and called us all to the kitchen for a bite. I ran out and asked her where the spoons were. She looked at me with a puzzled look on her face and asked why I would need a spoon. I replied that it was how we ate my mother's penuche. She laughed so loudly and called to my mother. Apparently my mother hadn't been making it the right way. After that day, my mother never made penuche again.

It isn't messy at all. It is a lot of fun. I love it when I give my candies to people and they taste it. The reaction on their faces is best when they realize that I have made it!

I love making home made goodies for my friends and family. It's fun to give to strangers too. There's just something really cool about a stranger getting that glimmer of hope in their eye when they see a perfect stranger can bless them with a gift. I think it has a tendency to renew their faith in the human race. I love to make peanut clusters in particular.

Hello! I don't see any of the recipes you posted. I made candy years ago, but I don't know if I would remember how to make it now. I wanted to make a calendar for my family, but I can't seem to find the right program to make it in. Which program are you using and is your calendar 1 page or 12? I'm sure your family looks forward to your goodies. Let me know when you post the recipes and I will definitely try one out. Have a wonderful Christmas!
