My 2 and a half y.o. toddler won't talk yet. Anybody experienced this?

I have a toddler turning 3 next year. I love him the way he is, but sometimes I am concern about his speech, or lack of it. Early on, when he was a year and a half old, I was expecting that he would learn to speak at least 2 words in the same sentence like "Let's eat!" or "Mama, sleepy" or something like that. But he just won't and he doesn't like it either when I teach him. He will just ignore me and keep on playing, which is what he does almost all the time. As of now, he only speaks one word at a time, like sleep, eat, jump, etc. He can't or won't say "Please give me that," or simple things like "I'm hungry mama." Did anybody here had a problem like that? Because I notice that almost all the posts here says otherwise, and that mostly that their kids speak very well at an early age. Am I a BAD mommy?

You're not a bad mommy, your toddler is probably not talktative or his social skills are developed late. Some kids who don't talk much are very active or intelligent, I believe this is because kids can only learn one skill at a time. Give yourself some credit, just keep talking to him like a normal person, don't baby talk him, and he'll respond soon.
