June 16, 2006 11:06pm CST
round superficial wound that developed from scratching an already healed wound it has somewhat become bigger and keeps on weeping clear liquid. sometimes it dries up but then it weeps again. its a month old now. all i need is for it to dry up completely so that healing can take place like before.already tried to put terramycin but does not seem to do the job. any suggestions?

I think it may be chronic wounds.Chronic Wound: any non-healing wound and/or ulcer that has been present for 3-4 week duration and has not responded to conventional therapies. Lower Extremity Ulcerations: Any non-healing ulcer of a lower extremity that has been present for 3-4 week duration and has not responded to conventional therapies. o ARTERIAL ULCER - caused by ischemia; related to the presence of arterial occlusive disease; generally present on the foot, typically the distal appendages and lateral malleolus; very painful; onset can be precipitated by trauma. Management involves assessment of blood flow to the extremity, wound management, and evaluation by a vascular surgeon. o VENOUS STASIS ULCER - result of edema and impaired venous return; loss of epidermis and various levels of dermis and subcutaneous tissue occurring on the medial aspect of the distal 1/3 of the lower extremity. Often found in combination with an edematous and indurated lower extremity. Management involves assessment of blood flow to the extremity, wound management, compression stockings and/or wraps, and evaluation from a vascular surgeon. A dermatologist consult may be obtained if chronic dermatitis is present. o MIXED VESSSEL (ARTERIAL AND VENOUS ULCER) - presence of arterial insufficiency and venous disease. Typically, ulcers are found on the lower extremity including the foot. Management includes assessment of blood flow to the lower extremity, wound management, and evaluation by a vascular surgeon. · All patients should be encouraged to decrease their risk factors (e.g., smoking, etc.) and to manage co-existing conditions such as diabetes. · All other ulcerations assessed individually and treated according to the underlying etiology.

Try 1 or 2 drops of peroxide on the wound. it puts oxygen into wound. helped clear my sisters wound she had for 6 months.

Do you have Diabetes(Diabetes Mellitus)? People who have high blood sugar especially when it's chronic(lasting a long time) would eventually experience persistent wounds. That is why it is advisable for people with Diabetes to prevent wounds especially on the lower limbs. If this wound has been persistent for quite sometime consult your doctor. Do not self medicate as this would do you more harm than good. As always please do consult your doctor about anything that you read from the internet, these are just informations that you may ask your healthcare provider about.

dont rub or scratch it anymore it wont heal like that. and dont put water or something on it. sometimes water have bacteria on them. keep it dry and dont let it wet. And dont let germs or anything that have infections touch your wound.

i would suggest that you consult a doctor as it seems that you are developing puss cells in your wound.

how much is you blood sugar level? for persons with elevated blood sugar levels, complete healing of wounds takes a longer time. have it seen by your doctor. he can advise you best.
