I have never seen it. But I love both Mary Poppins and Sound of Music. Can you tell me the basic story line?

You will LOVEthis movie if you liked the other two. It is about a widower who has several children that continue to run off every Nanny he hires. He keeps hearing a voice telling him he needs Nanny McPhee, but he can find anyone to tell him where he can find her. She just appears and she is very ugly looking with warts and a very wicked smile. She looks like a witch and is able to cast spells. Emma Thompson plays the nanny.
Emma Thompson portrays a person of unsettling appearance and magical powers who enters the household of the recently widowed Mr. Brown and attempts to tame his seven exceedingly ill-behaved children. The children have managed to drive away 17 previous nannies and are certain that they will have no trouble with this one

Actually, I haven't seen the Sound of Music or Mary Poppins. But I have seen Nanny McPhee and I absolutely loved it! I have seven kids myself and they are nothing like that you see in the movie. But from time to time, I would like to have a government nanny set to my house to teach my kids some lessons. LOL
I love this movie so much!!! And would you believe, that even after seeing it a couple of handful times, I still cry each time I watch it?
It is a wonderful movie!!!!

I have not seen Mary Poppins, but I've seen both SoM and NP. I like Nanny McPhee better especially the lines where she said she would stay in place no matter if she was wanted or not when she was needed, but when she was no longer needed, she would leave no matter how she was wanted (did I quote it correctly?). I love the setting, the songs and of course the kids!!

Yes I seen it and I like it a lot too. I love Mary Poppins and I actually have not seen "The Sound of Music" yet. But I've got it here from Netflix to watch it. Just got to find the time.

Nanny McPhee has its own enduring charm, a mix of witty dialogue, pie-throwing slapstick and eccentric family viewing.

I just watched this movie recently when we saw the DVD at The Warehouse. The story is great and have a good moral lessons. I have watched it for 3 times now and still keep watching it when my daughter started to play it. I highly recommend this movie for your children if you have not seen it yet.

I've never seen Mary Poppins and of the rest two, I love Nanny McPhee more. Especially the part where she said, (in my own words) "I will stay for as long as I am needed even if you do not want me, but I will go when I'm no longer needed, even when I'm wanted to stay." It's like how God deals with us from time to time.
