I never really bothered about age as I find that it's just a number. I must say that when I was in my teens, I looked at the 30-somethings and think that they are OLD!! And when I reached my 20s, time just flies after my 21st birthday and I kinda thought I would look forward to my 30s. Maybe it's because I was starting out at my career and kinda look forward to see how my career with be crafted out. And now, being in my 30s, the clock just clicks faster and faster and there is no slowing down ever again. This year is almost over and I just wonder what will it be like when I finally reach my 40s and 50s and 60s, etc.

You may get old in body but don't get old in spirit...I'm hoping that I'm one of those 50 year olds that can still laugh and joke like I'm 20! (Not the pathetic ones that try and STAY in their 20's but the ones that have a humorous outlook on life)....maybe what I'm trying to say is don't let life get you down! lol
But I know the rushing towards 30 phase as well...I'm sure I was only 17 yesterday!

Oh yes....age gracefully....I believe in being kind, generous, happy, helpful...all those good stuff...and that will make your journey in life so much worthwhile! Oh yes...I think I just graduated from college "yesterday"! haha...it's still all so fresh in my mine! And all those fun with school friends at younger age! Didn't it just happen only like awhile ago? And then...when you start counting the number of years ago..you realize...10 fingers aren't enough!

Oh don't I know that! I'm still on the 10 fingers is enough but I'm going to have to start on toes very soon! lol
Or you remember something pretty big that happened what you thought was not long ago and you say "oh about...hang on...OMG it was 8 years ago!" rofl

I would say we don't give that much importance to time as teenagers, no plans to be made and nothing to worry about except studies, we find our most cherished times in those years. But as we go into the 20's all the thoughts about job and future planning clatter the mind.
Its amazing when we didn't think about anything in teenage, time seemed to be moving the way we wanted it to and when we use our minds better for better purposes time just seems to be moving at rocket speed. Its a fact though that we humans learn somethings better when we experience those things ourselves, i think we would only know more about the people in 30's when we really are 30.

And you know what? sometimes I only get to realize my real age or how time flies when you start seeing your friends' kids GROW UP! From a little baby to a toddler and to school, etc. Sometimes, I lost count of my own age in this late 20s - 30s phase! Very soon...I need to use calculator and find out exactly how old I am! muahaha....

Where a season's length is determined by the time from solstice to equinox, the length of each lifecycle phase is determined by the span of time between birth and the coming of age into young adulthood. In American society, the ritual acknowledgment today occurs at 21, the age of college graduation and initial career launch. Afterwards, a person is deemed to be an autonomous adult. The length of life’s first phase fixes the length of the other life phases as well. Once one batch of children has fully come of age, it and it alone comprises the society’s young adults, casting its next-elders into a midlife social role. This now happens when the latter reach age 42, the minimum age U.S. history (though not the Constitution) has declared acceptable for a President. And, in turn, the group entering midlife pushes another into an elder role, now starting around age 63, today’s median age for receiving one’s first old-age benefit check from government.
Since the share of people able to survive the elderhood phase of life has grown enormously over the last fifty years, it may make sense to define a new phase of life: late elderhood (age 84 on up). The social role of late elders is pure dependence, the receiving of comfort from others.
The phases, and social roles, of the modern American lifecycle can be summarized as follows:
Childhood (pueritia, age 0-20). Social role: growth (receiving nurture, acquiring values).
Young Adulthood (iuventus, age 21-41). Social role: vitality (serving institutions, testing values).
Midlife (virilitas, age 42-62). Social role: power (managing institutions, applying values).
Elderhood (senectus, age 63-83). Social role: leadership (leading institutions, transferring values).
Late Elderhood (age 84+). Social role: dependence (receiving comfort from institutions, remembering values).
The first four (childhood through elderhood) comprise the quaternity of the human lifecycle. The length of these four—roughly 84 years—matches the span of the American saeculum dating back to the Revolution.

YAH!!! EXACTLY...it's like from the 21 years old onwards, everything happens in 1 year...until we retire...then it's like another whole phase. :) The strange thing is that when you were younger..you look at those at about 30s and 40s..and say...wah lau...old!....now...er...it's like...our GENERATION!!! haha...

You know what...haha...when I go marketing....old woman in their 50s call me AUNTIE!!!! haha....I really wanted to die! And recently....I visited another new market, this old lady from a vegetable stall called me "little gal"....haha, I think I will have to go back to her!
For those who aren't from nearby countries...it's just a cultural way of addressing someone informally.

To be honest, it doesn't bother me yet and I am 31. I AM in my 30's but to me that is not a big deal. My husband is dreading his 40's and he is 38. I wonder if it will hit me then too. But then again he didn't like turning 30 either. It really depends on the individual. Some don't care and others do. I am still at the point where I don't really care how old I am.

it's a great journey. I happen to write this because for the past many years, I only remember that I'm 30+....coz, it's just the same phase, age is just a number.

it felt really nice to know the thoughts of someone my age. but you know what, I'm glad that time flies...i would not like to relive my life, i like the way I spent (or wasted it, depending on my parents' view), i now look forward to becoming 60...70... whatever and just pass my days peacefully. till now, i've had a most wonderful life (all thanks to everybody) I just hope the trend stays till the last days!!!

well...more than phases of life...in between ur discussion reveals how time flies so fast and how incapable we are to control it...Sometimes, we tend to overlook that aspect in our lives, and we just wake up one day that our time has come to an end... Our lives are temporary..we all know that sooner or later we will die, but that reality always intentionally slips out in our minds...yeah, one should never bother about aging only If one was able to do what he was destined to do...only if he has done his purpose hear on earth, and only if he was able to learn something profound out of the experiences he has gained through aging...But if one only aged without any significant growth in his/her total being and without accomplishing his/her purpose in life..then I guess, one should bother that he is getting old without getting wisdom and maturity...

Life is a strange thing. It keeps on moving. So we always have a change in our perceptions and our life changes so much in every phase. I think the important thing is that we shoul do something in our life that is a real acheivement so at the end of it when we are dying we dont have any tension of no acheivement and we are relaxed.

life is effectively a journey. I enjoy every minute of it, though there are times when it's tough, but it's just a small speed bump!

Ithink age is just number ,and every period has its taste
what does it matter,is to enjoy your age and what did you accomplish
i know women care more about age ,wishbe younger always, thats good but life has its rules

That's why you should enjoy everyday that you have to the fullest as they always say, life is short. Appreciate all your loved ones and spend time with them. Because before you know it you'll be 70 plus and it's almost time to go.
Enjoy life.
