Do I get your support? - For those who are really interested in discussion

For those who are really interested in discussion instead of just posting for the fun of it to increase in ranking or just earning that little token from mylot,
DO YOU AGREE THAT WE SHOULD REPORT THOSE WHO ABUSE THE SYSTEM?
I have come across several people posting exactly the same thing as others even within the same discussion.
DO YOU SUPPORT ABUSE OF MYLOT'S LITTLE TOKEN FOR PARTICIPATION? OR SHOULD YOU THEN REPORT SUCH ABUSE SO THAT ON A LONG TERM, THIS COULD BE A BETTER PLACE TO REALLY DISCUSS REAL THINGS?

I have no problem reporting abuse and have already done so on a couple of occasions. I am really interested in discussion and reading other people's opinions as well as sharing mine.
It does really aggrivate me to see people posting discussion or responses that require a simple yes or no or one word answer. I really think about what I am going to say andtake my time sharing it.
I guess that is the difference between people who are here just to make money and those who are here for the discussions.
Mylot has the rating and report abuse buttons for a reason. I think we should all use them as they were planned to be used. I do know that the two posts that I reported were removed because I went back to check.
It is a long process but I think if everyone uses those buttons as they were intended we can help mylot become something great in the future.

I support and report!
I can't believe the gall of some of these posters copy and pasting in the SAME discussion! It's not only rude and lazy but it's cheating the system and the members who are taking the time to think and type out their response.
I have also noticed (and reported) a few people who post the same response, literally, thousands of times in one discussion... that's ridiculous! And what about the losers posting "don't know" to tons of posts? What's the point? One of our "Top Users" today is doing just that! They only joined like three days ago and have a rating of 1322 already. I have been posting for months now and still haven't reached that amount : )
I will continue to police myLot, in hopes for more quality responses and discussions.

I also agree wholeheartedly. I report abuse whenever I find it or notice it. I especially hate those that copy and paste others answers. I have seen some really blatant disregard for the rules. I try to always come up with good topics or at least a method to discuss something. One or two word answers really tick me off. I minus them right off the bat. So cound me in as one of those that will help in reporting abuse of the system.

That's great. Yes, I prefer proper discussion, when I first started I thought it's really just for fun, but managed to find some interesting discussion and found that there are lots to learn from each other. Best of all...people from all over!

Thanks for the support. WE have to play our part by making this a more meaningful portal. It's hard to find proper topics to participate.

Some days, when I just don't feel in 'response' or 'discussion' mode, I will spend most of my time on here researching and reporting people who are flagrantly abusing the system.
It does take some time for these posts to be removed but it is done eventually and I'm sure that some of you noticed the results of such 'clean ups' in slight increases in earnings in the last few days as money has been redistributed.

LOL, I have to admit, I do the same as you. There are days that I find no interesting discussions to join in on, or I really have no discussion to create myself. So, I will read through discussions, and rate, and report when need be.
I generally start with the listed top users, because I find it ironic that they made it to the front page or the list, and yet the majority of their discussions are of the poorist quality, plagiarized, and copyright infringed.

Well, for me it depends.
If someone obviously doesn't understand English and is trying, I'll leave that to someone else to report.
Now if people are just acting rudely or obviously making what I call "blind" posts (just running amok putting in a word or two here and there) are as good as reported.
But if a post doesn't interest me, I don't even bother with it, so I don't do a whole lot of reporting.
Report away, forex, knock yourself out. I gotcher back :)

I agree that abuse should be reported. I have only been a member for a few days and I don't plan to get rich being here. I haven't been actively searching for abusers (which may be what mylot needs - monitors who only look for abuse) but I do report it as I come across it.

thank you all for responding.....i can't even complete posting a reply to your response. so, for those I've left out, sorry about it. I appreciate all your responses and we should continue having great discussions and sift out the bad ones.

I do agree with you!!! we come here not only for earning some money but also for particpating the discussions we are interested in. I like the style of mylot. So many friends come toghter to have discussion on a topic, then give our viewpoints, and get the gift from mylot(I mean the earnings). Those who abuse the system disturb the normal discussions.
I receive the new alerts from mylot when sing in this morning. I think the webmaster has the same idea as you. I am sure the environment will get better and better because there are still many warm-hearted and hard-working friends.

I am not sure of the question ...
a discussion can be serious, or done for the fun, to make time seems shorter or to have the chance to talk with people different every day instead of staying all day and every day at home with the kids....
Subjects should be as different as people can be and everybody will be happy having the discussion he wanted to...
hope my english is not too bad I have lost a lot since High School in Pennsylvania
have a nice day

Sometimes it's hard not to say the same thing as someone else when there are hundreds of responses ahead of you. Can you really read all the responses before responding? I usually try to only respond to discussions with a few responses first. I try to rate "one-worders" and "I agrees" negatively. If it is absolutely copied and pasted, even the spelling errors, I do the whole reprt abuse thing.

Oh...we are referring to those who literally copy and paste the whole long passage. and if you notice, those response that people copy and paste are usually very long response. I suppose they think that no one is going to read.

I support you as well. My only "problem" is I am pretty new to this and don't exactly know how to use the site completely yet. If someone can "show me the ropes" I'll play a police officer :) I have only been here a few days, but the discussions help alot!

But what if a person just loves to write for the fun of it, like me? What if they are reading a discussion just because it is interesting but have nothing really to say about it except "I agree" or "ok"? You can't just go around deleting people and be big shots.
When I came here - I didn't come for the money, heck I'm just learning that you get points. I came here to relax, let my mind eagerly take action on how I feel about discussions and write what I have on my brain.
I would say yes, but you know, there are alot of people using mylot and you might as well kick them all out then. This reminds me of the freedom of speech act that we don't have anymore. What a sad world we live in.

3Dlace,
Unfortunately, MyLot has writers guidelines, which strictly say they do not support the quick and simple "I agree", "okay", "yes", "no", "I don't know" answers. I say this is unfortunate for you who may not always respond with an abundance of words, but you are genuine in your enthusiasm when you are interested in a discussion, because there are way more on here who respond with simple answers because they are scamming the site for profit. This is why, unfortunately for you, it can't be tolerated.
However, my rule of thumb is, before I report anyone, I normally check out their profile. You can look at the discussions they have started, and the responses they give, and see the trend, if you know what I mean.
Normally, for simple responses I don't report, but rather rate them with a "-". The principal here is to start a discussion that engages communication and conversation, and this requires quality responses.
There are many times I read a discussion and find I have nothing really to add, so I don't.

If you have nothing to say except OK or I Agree, then either say nothing at all or try to expand on your answer somehow. It is very boring to ready pages and pages of people's one-word answers, and I have looked for a long time for a website where discussions are moderated in such a way that people write things that are more interesting than empty two-word banter! Even a simple sentence or two of your own thoughts is far better than just "OK." If you enjoy that sort of thing, there are tons of other sites that are completely unmoderated and people don't care. This is not censorship for the sake of censorship; it is simply the only means to try and keep the writing of a high enough quality so that it is interesting for us all to read.
